A handful of people cannot "call off" a hard fork. The miners decide...

I feel larger blocksize will be necessary soon or later. And with current fees, the project was a good move IMO but unfortunately it seems many are against it. The day will come when people realize it was the right thing to do. Hope they don't realize too late.
Anyway, good news for short term price it seems, can't complain for now.

Is it really cancelled? I thought it's just suspended. This expectation to the fork already caused a huge rise in bitcoin price and a huge drop on altcoins' price. I hope corrections happen fast before they announce the fork again.

With SegWit2x cancelled, does anyone think SegWit itself might now have a chance?

With the Segwit2x cancellation it stabilize the tension to all Bitcoin communities and the developers think that it will not go through even if it reaches the said schedule on November 16 as they prioritize the unity of an one blockchain instead of making a two separate blockchain that will be resulted to the partitioning of the Bitcoin community, once again Bitcoin is one and there is no future split that will happen and SegWit will stay for the mean time.

I also think fork cancellation is only temporary, fork cancellation, will be beneficial to altcoin, the first increase is certainly bcc, then the other altcoin.

The article I read says "suspended until a consensus is found in the community". Which pretty much means suspended until 2018 or 2019, not sure when a consensus will be found even though I personally think the fork was a good thing. If Bitcoin does not evolve for the better, it will die. Competition from other cryptos is strong.
