So today we can reveal the following recommendations;
We recommend an 850 Watt PSU with a minimum of 4x PCI-E adaptors for our Jupiter model.
We recommend a 600 Watt PSU with a minimum of 2x PCI-E adaptors for our Saturn model.
We recommend a 400 Watt PSU with a minimum of a PCI-E adaptor for our Mercury model.
This recommended power wattage figure is calculated upon our max. power consumption of total device including all of its components.
We aim to ensure you use a power supply unit capable of outputting in excess of the current recommended wattage to prevent any problems caused due to insufficient power.
Note: Powers supplies must contain a sufficient number of PCI-E adaptors for each respective unit.

I just orderd the zalman top of the bill. Over dimensioning, but when my avashit chips will ever come in i can power them from the same psu. Got some extra pci-e cons on these and its. single 12v rail.

No its not possible this psu have protection for it. I have two pcs. Can recommend Corsair.

At the moment I'm thinking I might go industrial, something like:

Mean Well RSP-1000-12


and something similar but lightweight for the 5v.  Depending on prices, I might go for current-sharing with multiple smaller 12v supplies and add in some redundancy - not sure yet.

You should get a 1000 watt to be safe.  The one from new egg above seems to be the consensus on other threads, IMHO.  Cheaper too.

knc seems to state that theirs "at wall" wat per GHs is 1.6 W

then as max W requirment we should have 1.6 * 400 = 640W

am i missing something obvious?

I don't see any reason to buy a PSU until they've announced that they are shipping.  You never know if they'll come back with specific PSU recommendations that are tested and known to work instead of just guessing.

Fair enough if you have a store close to your location, or are serviced by an efficient postal network, but globally this isn't the case. They mentioned the need to inform their more 'remote' customers, besides people had been bugging for sometime about having fair warning...
