I think the cancellation of Segwit2x is good for Bitcoin, because it has been ridiculous that many forks. Decentralized should also mean that all parties should reach consensus and not wanting to force things by deciding to force a fork. It is also good for altcoins because too many investors sold them to buy more Bitcoin and get the same amount of coins in the new chain.

Regarding Parity, it is a pity. A lot of funds locked there. This is why I don't personally trust this kind of multisig wallets.

Well, we saw what happened today after the cancellation of Segwit2x, altcoins prices went off the charts and most of them keep going up at the moment of this post, good news to every holder who invested in altcoins over the last few weeks, they're making big profits.

The parity issue was just an unfortunate event caused by someone who accidentally found a big flaw in the Parity multisig and had no idea what he was doing.  And I believe this incident is actually a good thing in the long term, better to lose $150 million now than $150 billion later. Honestly, the guy actually made everyone a favor (though it sucks for the people who lost their ETH)

I think Segwit2x cancellation is a great news and just in time for a holiday party
rally in all cryptos. Parity bug find is just another one in a series and we just have to
fix and move on. There is no such thing as  bug-free Software.

Read in an article that they had to cancel hardfork because the bitcoin community does not support them "enough" for s2x to become the new mainstream blockchain.

On the otherhand, Vitalik Buterin doesn't want to comment on the parity issue, probably he knows that the frozen amount although "large" shall be a liability of Parity not the whole Ethereum platform; just my 2cents tho.

Indeed the altcoin market is flying!

I wonder how many people would be upset who had banked on Segwit2x going through

The parity issue is quite unfortunate perhaps more bug bounties should be offered to help prevent these sorts of things from occurring industry wide

I think not for a long time. Segwit2x is not cancelled - it just moved for some time. And who knows, when they announce a new date.

The decision taken by the SegWit2x team to cancel hardfork was taken in the interest of bitcoin community not for personal gain, they team felt that it is necessary to increase or upgrade the 2MB block to enable miners to charge lesser transaction fees having successfully done BCC  and BTG hardfork.
I hope this decision taken will have less impact on the price of bitcoin else pullback will be triggered.

Bitcoin pullback is badly needed for long term health. I think btc will go back to $5000 before institutional money coming in. Crypto as a whole will flourish.

I agree with you. There should be alts rally next few days imo.

I guess ETH could easily rise due to locking of huge amount because of parity bug Wink

everything is getting interesting again.

regarding SegWit2x:
we no longer have the risk of a community split and a new coin and that means investors can now come in and invest their money with their minds at ease. and also nobody can say the rise is because people want free coins anymore. and with the fights being nearly over we can focus on more important stuff such as more adoption.
there is also bitcoin cash which will be affected by this, and there will probably be a huge pump in it as promised before. and that is one thing that i will be watching.

regarding Ethereum:
another hack and it seems like people do not care about all these bugs since they are not holding any ETH in any wallet except their exchange accounts. at least majority are doing it. and it is interesting to see all the whale fake-walls that are being placed to prevent the crash Cheesy

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.
