约翰霍普金斯大学的数学家Cristian Tomasetti和癌症遗传学家Bert Vogelstein在《科学》杂志上发表了一篇论文，证明了随机DNA复制错误在癌症中的主要作用：28.9％的癌症相关突变归因于环境因素，5％来自遗传因素，66.1％则是源于DNA复制随机错误。
