I recommend you to buy cindicator and monetha for long term investment and I am sure this will be a valuable asset. But read their whitepaper before you buy the token.

Cindicator and monetha are very good choices so hold it longer is good idea.
However, they both are not type of passive income altcoin but they are normal like other. Get income when we sell it high.

I think current best ones are still neo and taas, neo is crystal clear coin where you are awarded with gas if you hold more and more. Taas is quite good dividend paying fund, sharing profits with holders over time. I remember they paid dividens in ethereum.

Mining could be an option to receive a standard income on a regular period.  Passive income is impossible with crypto currencies. But we have en-number of options to earn. Try to trade. You will gain more profits based on the value you purchase and the value when you sell. If you have enough money to investment, go with mining.

If you have 1000+ of Nexus coin, those can generate you around 5 to 20 coin per month, depends on difficulty and your interest rate. Which can go up to 3%. How about GLOBCOIN? It's a stablecoin, so not meant for making gains out of volatility but exactly the opposite.

Avoid ICOs that try to promise you some passive income because you know those are likely going to be the ones that the SEC hunts down first. Try looking for projects that provide value and aren't just trying to make a quick buck. Projects like DragonChain are worth pursing, but a project like Envion? I don't know even though it sounds good (when it sounds too good, it is too good imo).

There are a thousand ways to generate a passive income; this can come from simple Pos, Dpos, masternode, etc.

The best coins among them can be Decred, Rise, Stratis, Nexus, Ark, while then there are the most known masternodes like that of Dash, Pivx, Pura, Diamond

Personally I prefer coins like Neo that generates Gas, and the very promising VeChain that will launch its mainet in June and start to generate Thor, in the same style of Neo-Gas but with higher percentage
