To invest you need to look at the currency market first, which crypto is performing well and vice versa. You need to do analysis and research. 

Everyone has their own opinion, for me ETH is showing a stable path, few predicted that it will be triple in price in near future. Bitcoin after seeing a high growth now on a downward trend as legal concerns are lingering around it. In my view, Ripple is the one in which a newbie should invest as it says if it reach $7 mark in a couple of months then it will give more returns than Bitcoin.

This is a good coin in my opinion also though it has performed bad this year because:

1) It is 3rd coin based on market cap and price is about $0.3 at the moment. You will not find another coin in top 10 at that price.

2) For people who made loss with this coin in short term investment can still recover all their money in next 1-2 years. I may hold for 5+ years.
