Announcing the DigitalCoin Online IRC Wallet
NEW: Help with IRC and list of all bot commands http://irc.mywl.lt/ I have created an online wallet for the DigitalCoin IRC channel (#digitalcoin on irc.freenode.net). It is the first wallet bot that I am aware of, but I'd love to hear if anyone has built anything similar. Our bot is called DGCBot and the first thing you need to do is introduce yourself. Then set a password /msg DGCBot PASS <password> Create a wallet /msg DGCBot !wallet create <password> DGCBot will give you your wallet address. Deposit some DGC from your personal wallet and you're ready to go! All commands are done via private message, but you can turn on the ability to use them in public chat. If you do, you should register your nickname with NickServ which helps make sure nobody else can sign on as you. Sending money is easy. Say you want to send money to someone in the room. !wallet send clapyohands 10DGC Or if you want to donate to the DGC Developer Fund Here's the full list of commands: Private Chat Commands:
!wallet create <password> - Creates a wallet if one does not exist
!wallet address - Returns your wallet address
!wallet balance - Returns the balance of your wallet
!wallet send <address or username> <amount> <password> [channel] - Sends a payment to an address or registered user if it does not exceed your balance (Min. Tx Fee: 0.1DGC). Optionally announce payment to channel.
!wallet donate <amount> <password> [channel] - Donate to the DGC Developer Fund. Optional: specify a channel for the bot to announce your donation to.
!wallet allowpublic <password> - Enables public chat commands for your account. Only recommended for experienced users.
!wallet denypublic <password> - Disables public chat commands for your account.
!wallet make it rain <amount> <password> <channel> - Divides the amount up among all registered users in the specified channel.
Public Chat Commands: (disabled by default for security. Never type your password in public chat!)
!wallet address - Displays your wallet address in the channel
!wallet balance - Display the balance of your wallet in the channel
!wallet send <address or username> <amount> - Sends a payment to an address or registered user if it does not exceed your balance (Min. Tx Fee: 0.1DGC)
!wallet donate <amount> - Donate to the DGC Developer Fund

I have my own wallet. So, don't need online IRC wallet.
It's not meant to replace your wallet. Really, with Crypto, having multiple wallets is a good idea. This is meant for a few things: 1. Access to a wallet while chatting/idling on IRC, something a large number of people do. At any given moment, #bitcoin has over 1100 people, #litecoin over 300. 2. Another way to build donations for DGC. We give out 10 DGC, and many people turn around and donate it right to the DGC Dev fund ("!wallet donate 10DGC") 3. A fun way to tip / send money while chatting. If you've ever seen Reddit's Bitcoin Tip Bot, then this is just like that. Someone in chat says/does something you liked or maybe helps you out with a problem, maybe you decide to tip them a few DGC. It's one line ("!wallet send [name] [amount]"), works immediately, and always sparks more sharing, which helps build a friendly community. Seriously, come into chat and hang out while people are using the "make it rain" command and you'll see how fun it is. This may be the only IRC channel that PAYS YOU TO IDLE! |

Read my post above. There will also be a web interface very soon. So basically, you can have a regular online wallet, but with the included benefit of super fast p2p payments while chatting, and you'll make money just by hanging out in #digitalcoin. Every time someone "makes it rain" they send a payment to everyone in the room with a registered wallet. Once it starts, usually others join in too so you can make a good quantity of DGC just by hanging out in a chat room. Not too bad eh? |

I made 43 DGC in 24 hours just by sitting in the room not even at my computer...uses less power then mining...and the more people that are involved the more you can make! It's worth giving it a shot. You have nothing to lose. |

Found this on the web: The qwebirc interface connects to the server for you, like a proxy, and has a password which allows it to spoof its IP address to look like the user it's proxying for. It looks like the password for one of the qwebirc instances has been misconfigured by freenode... they may fix this at some point, so you could just wait and try again later.
A better solution would be to get a proper client, though.

Due to some asshole taking advantage of the system, we've had to disable autopayouts for the promo, but it's still ongoing.
