It appears that a few on BticoinTalk (especially the moderator) are afraid of this information being read by the masses. They're afraid that the price of BTC may decline as a result.  Whatever will happen will happen.  The deleting and moving of this information won't prevent people from finding out that MTGOX has halted USD withdrawals.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Oh God, we moderators are not 'afraid of this information being read by the masses'. It's simply because:

A) MT.Gox is a service, not bitcoin itself. Stuff like that belongs in Service discussion, along with those 'BitStamp is awesome' 'Mtgox is awesome' type of threads.

B) You're spamming this message all over the forums.

C) People will find out regardless of your spam - it's announced in their site for God's sake, and repeated (and again) in the Service discussion subsection.

Yeah, I admit I kind of winced when he said "it was because the moderators were afraid".

I do defend my decision to post it here though, while it is about MtGox, it is also about my personal experiences in dealing with bitcoin and how it may not always work out as expected.

Of course I will bow to the wisdom of the moderators and their opinions (as I must).

Wow, that does suck.  After John K sorted out the tread to keep it on topic someone eventually did move my tread to service discussion.

Apparently my personal life and dealing with bitcoin is a service I suppose.

Kind of makes me feel like BadBear is a bot and does not read things before he 'moderates' them.
