Can underclocking damage the GPU?

I know, weird question, but i've recently been into underclocking my 1070s and 1070TIs to about 70% power limit and overclocking core clock +99 and memory clock +~800, anyways, will this damage the card to deprive it of power at the same time i increase the core clock and memory clock?

Answer is no you are underclocking it not overclocking meaning you are not pushing you hardware beyond its bounderies. Also what is the main reason that you want to underclock your GPU? For Science maybe?

For power efficiency.  Find the max sustainable hash rate for a given clock rate for a given voltage.

Sometimes it's hard to tell if you're core clock limited, memory bandwidth limited, or power limited.

I think you are referring to underVOLTing as opposed to underCLOCKing. Undervolting is what you are doing because you are decreasing the power consumption whereas in underclocking you will be decreasing the clock speeds of your GPU.

To answer your question, no, it should not damage the GPU you are using. I have had my cards undervolted and overclocked for almost a year now and have no problems whatsoever.

I meant clocking....

Power decreases with the square of voltage, and linearly with clock rate.  They both have an effect on power.

I answered the question asked, not intended (as you presume).  Both are helpful in this case.

Underclocking and setting a max temp threshold is a great way to keep the temperature low on your GPUs. If you are in less than ideal situation for airflow or it's a super hot day out or whatever it's a great option for keeping your cards from potentially overheating.  Doing this also extends the life of the cards.  I did this over the summer, now that winter is here I'll make some adjustments.

in order to find the sweet spot for my GPUs when mining most of the time i need to undervolt the cards. Take a look at the images i've posted.

Well, my two cents are that ofcourse you are lowering the estimated living time of your GPU when you overclock. Otherwise they would come from the factory this way? But i dont think its with that much, id go as far to say as i think you will make more during the GPU lifetime if you clock it as to if you're not.

I think you mean undervolting and not undercloking since you are overcloking the rest of your card, As long as your card is 100% stable and have a good security marging you shoudn't have any issues, in fact the opposite since the cards will heat less and the electrical resistance is lower.

As for underclocking as the other mentioned previously it's only positives aside less performance.
