On November, 2017 Russian proposed to create free economic zone to produce cryptocurrency legally. They have plans to bring there powerful hardware for mining. Does not it mean that doing it Russia wants to run away from sanctions – dealing with crypto, they will trade with Europe.

What do you think about this?

Anyone can create their own cryptocurrency. Russia wants to do that is absolutely legitimate. We should encourage them to create a real and useful project for the world

Do you believe that the Russians can do something clever? Lol. I saw the statement that the largest state Bank of Russia bought the GPU. He did it as active which caused shortage in the market. This means that they want to create their own cryptocurrency or just make for yourself on public money. What kleptocratic totalitarian state can be a free zone?

Well mother Russia is full of developers and the government has a big ego among the other countries. I wouldn't be surprised to see them pushing projects after projects. But still, countries like Estonia have taken a lot more measures towards digitization than Russia.

Where did you find this information ? There are a lot of unfounded rumors about russia and cryptocurrency.
If it turns out to be true anyway, it would be a good thing for Russia and for developping crypto even more.

Mining is not illegal in many parts of the world including russia and china.
But russia is one of the first to regulate cryptocurrency which offered a trustable future for crypto based projects in the country.
That's why a large number of larger mining farms are emerging in russia.

China and the European Union have recently applied to Russia to crypto-currency on its territory. For this, Russia could have received about three billion rubles as a tax. Perhaps, within the framework of this project, such a free economic zone is created for the crypto-currency mining. In any case, for crypto currency is good news. Maybe, at least to prohibit its circulation after this will not.

Russians are bad ass. Their bank Sberbank bought graphic card for AI development. hehe they will use it for cryptocurrency.
For AI they need different type of cards Smiley

Very good news, it just goes to show that crypto is here to stay and will only keep growing.

This is a huge step forward for sure. But in case of Russia, I wouldn't be so positive. Investors must be very careful when cooperating with the government.

There really was an official statement by Sberbank yesterday. If you really really really need it I can find. But they stated as following - they have caused deficit in video cards supply due to their developments in the field of AI.

Do you have any source to support these claims? Or you have just heard about this somewhere?

Without official announcement it is quite hard to speculate its outcome and what they are trying to achieve with this move. If they will promote bitcoin or cryptocurrency mining than thats good for all crypto users like us.

I have read recently that they are also going to organize some free zones and install there equipment for mining. They are going to mine altcoins, not Bitcoins there. Probably, Zcash or Monero.
