What do you think about Nick Bostrom's simulation hypothesis? https://www.simulation-argument.com/  I'm quite curious about your opinion?  Smiley

This one is good! There are many theories but I guess we'll never know.

Do you think Sims are aware they're in the video game?

I think this idea of the computer simulation we would eventually be living in is a very brilliant idea, but quite intellectually masturbatory and basically wrong.

Are you implying that we live in a Sims scenario? Or it's more like a Saint's Row 4 scenario? either way it is, it would bug me if we are controlled by another Something. that, maybe like us, is in a computer simulation too, creating an endless circuit.

wow, that really is a mind blowing thought, but not crazy to me one bit.  A computer simulation makes sense in some ways.  I watched the Matrix series.  That too didn't seem all that sci-fi to me, I could totally see something like that happening.

I dont believe that theory but I do believe that there is great power who actually rules.

He's not the only one that believes we're in a simulation. Elon Musk has gone on record several times, and there are quite a few physicists that are also glomming on to the idea: https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/are-we-living-in-a-computer-simulation/

One of the recent developments that is pushing more scientists to entertain the concept, is the growing number of physicists that are believing in membrane, or brane theory. A theory in which our universe (potentially one of many) is more akin to a piece of paper - i.e. flat, and that our three dimensional perception is actually holographic. Mathematically, this theory helps resolve some pretty big problems with our previous models. Sounds pretty nutso to you or me, but the theory is rapidly gaining traction in the scientific community: https://phys.org/news/2017-01-reveals-substantial-evidence-holographic-universe.html

Interesting idea, but I guess lately the main consensus is that we don't. I could have told you immediately the same.

At present, there is no way to do without computers, let alone without simulation. However, the final decision is always due to take - a person, not a computer!

The problem is that if we are inside a computer simulation there is no way to know it :-)

This is one of those theories, that can not be cientifically refuted, but in generally I can't see why not, we all could be a projet, like bitcoin, maybe there are entities who just wait the best time to cash out all of us. Spooky!
