Why create ZeroSum and the ZFX Token?
We believe that the fundamentals of retail trading are no longer viable for the retail trader. For the little guy to profit based on their inherent skill and edge - they must overcome unfair advantages held by other market players - think banks, trading fees, high-frequency traders and algorithmic trading to name a few.
Stuck with limited access - millions of retail traders are left at a disadvantage.
It’s why we created ZeroSum and now the ZeroSum (ZFX) Token.
ZeroSum is live and currently allows FX Traders to compete head-to-head in skill-based FX competitions. No trading fees. No high-frequency traders. No algorithmic trading.
And the ZFX Token will be the method to exchange and extract monetary value from these fantasy competitions - allowing players on ZeroSum (and other trading, fantasy or PvP competition platforms) to do the same.

How does this compare to other options in the market?Currently, the only way to trade Forex, compete in the market - is to sign-up with a broker or self-managed trading account and directly participate in the market.
This has a number of challenges which can be read about in our whitepaper - but the most notable ones are:
- You pay huge trading fees on all transactions (can be upwards of $39USD / trade) - which can add up to a lot of money
- You are competing against unfair-advantaged market participants (think High-Frequency Traders, Banks, Market Makers like your own brokerage etc.)
- If your broker goes bankrupt - you lose all of your money (as it’s stored with them)
- If you have a self-managed account you naturally don’t get access to all of the best information that your competitors (HFT, Banks, other High-Net-Worth Individuals have)
And then there are the fantasy sports options. While this is a large market, the fantasy sports options only focus on sports - not enabling you to compete or trade on Forex or market data, or in other areas that may have a data feed.
Which leads us to why, with Wall St. backed team we are focused on tackling a bigger, broader question:
“How do you create peer-vs-peer trading style competitions on Forex, traditional markets, or on any subject that has a data feed?”

Finding a solution to this question is attractive for a number of key reasons:- When it comes to Forex, you’re no longer competing against unfairly advantaged market participants like Banks or High-Frequency-Traders. What is a sentiment feed? And what are alpha signals all about?An alpha signal for those who may not be familiar is a signal that X will perform in a certain way in the future. For the sake of this example let’s keep it simple and say that X = your stock or investment.
Thus, you’d be able to take seemingly non-correlated data (big data) from a wide range of sources - and filter it down to get indications that your stock or investment is going to go up or down in the future.
Imagine, for example, you could parse all sorts of seemingly random data from different sources (these would be your sentiment feeds) to give you an alpha signal that Bitcoin was most likely to skyrocket (or plummet)?
As you can imagine, having this type of insight would give you enormous competitive advantages.
This is what Sentiment Feeds and Alpha Signals are all about.
And on the ZeroSum platform (and on ZFX related platforms) you would be able to tap into this type of sentiment data potentially giving you the alpha signals you’re looking for.
