I am fairly new to crypto and decided to look for information on btctalk. Could you give me some tips where to get started, what I need to look into etc.?
So far I only invested as much as I could afford to lose and now before I invest more I want to understand the space a bit better.

Are there any youtube channels or other news sources that I should check out in regards to altcoin?
I hope this post belongs here, thank you for everyone who helps me out!

Cheers

Firstly I would like to welcome you!
Bitcoin Talk is a massive forum with many users and everyone will have his own view on any given subject, but you will notice that everyone will have a similar thought pattern because in the end everyone wants benefits and profits and no one wants to lose!
If you have invested as much as you say you did, then good for you, that is a wise thing to do. In the beginning, it's wiser to start small then gradually invest in more.
I would suggest signing up to Twitter accounts for up to date information. Take your time to browse websites that are related to cryptoworld and Bitcoin/Altcoin in general. Finally join up to Telegram groups or channels for more information and if you join different coin groups or ICO groups you will get the chance to speak with different Admins or Devs and you will get more insight as to what is happening.
Now as regards ICO's, make sure you do research before committing. There are scams out there. Do your research and study them well.
Good Luck and if you need any more help, feel free to ask.

Welcome to this fascinating, often confusing and always entertaining space!

You are going to be overwhelmed with resources that you can use and many people trying to sell you on certain coins. Often times, these people are just trying to promote coins they are already holding and use their influence to drive prices up. Take this assumption as you listen/read and it will make you more skeptical. Often good projects will be promoted but just use their recommendations as a launching pad to dive into the project and research it yourself to see if you should invest.

A good place to start is just buying top 10 projects, since they are going to be the safest as you learn more about small and mid tier cap projects and get comfortable with the space. Buying bitcoin and ethereum are safe bets IMO as these are two of the most stable and supported projects.

Start with small positions and just the ownership will give you the personal investment in them to want to dive deeper into the fundemantal and technical aspect of the projects. Also, so many of the other projects on the market are based off these two kingpins.

Good luck in the cryptosphere!

Be wary of any recommendations from users, including me, hahaha.
Because most people here might be interested. But you'll find that it's very interesting, because there are a lot of serious guys Posting, and the following responses are quite intense and well worth seeing.

Read the forum every day. This is really good because lots of people writes here and it's amazing to see different opinions.

Follow famous twitter and celebrity accounts of blockchain guys.

Try to read websites about coins and bitcoin.
