There's always been scammers here and there is on any forum or site that has a marketplace, but bitcoin by its very nature is a scammer's dream because of the relative anonymity of it and its unchargebackability (not a word but you get what I mean lol), and as bitcoin and the community grows so do the numbers of thieves and scammers. Also, because the forum has a policy of not dealing with scams and scammers it's a scammers paradise and many of them linger around like a bad smell cos they've got nothing to lose.

I believe earlier there were less scammers and accounts thieves? What happened to community?

It's a very easy way to make money. What is the reason people actually fall for the majority of the scams? They also want a very easy way to make money!

There's only one subtle difference:
The scammer doesn't think about others.
The victim doesn't think about the risks.

Referral link advertisers, often leading people to scams, like the Bitconnect youtubers do, are just as bad as the scammers. They don't think about others. The people blindly following the Youtuber's advice aren't thinking about the risk, which is why Bitconnect became so big: People don't think. They think they're thinking, but they're not.

Why are there so many scammers on this site? Because there are so many people who are willing to be scammed!

Now I'm really generalising the group of victims and I also get that many have been scammed without it being their ignorance of the risks, but the majority of the scams could've easily been avoided.

Regards,
Trump

I agree!  There are scammers everywhere, especially when they know that they could earn in this or that site by scamming. They scam people here to benefit themselves even though their actions might affect others.

Some people actually make a living scamming on this forum. With increasing account sales and farmed accounts, it shouldn't come as a surprise. The scammer knows that when they are tagged, they can easily create or buy new accounts.

By the way, is there some vigilante anti-scammer squads on this forum, who track down and "eliminate" scammers? Well, except moderators.

i think theres none , though you can always do it by yourself just by creating a thread here >>> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0 but you need to provide a proper details in order for your scam accuse to be valid. also you can click a report to moderator button and state your reasons and lasty you can leave the scammer a negative feedback by clicking or going to his trust page.

Well this crypto world is not legally regulated so people are taking advantage of it
i think that people can still scam you even if its regulated.

There are plenty of people that do this to varying degrees by leaving negative feedback on users they believe to be scammers or have scammed etc. It's a losing battle though and thankless task but some people persevere regardless. Anyone can do it though and the community largely polices itself so I'd urge anyone to leave positive or negative feedback if they feel it is deserved for good or bad behaviour.
