Core update on its way too Don't forget the block reward will be halving this fall. Megacoin will start to become much more rare. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-07-27/demark-sees-14-china-plunge-as-stocks-mirror-1929-u-s-crash

Hi, what makes this coin special? Thanks for the info There isn't enough room in one post to answer that one. What he meant to say is that there is nothing special about MEC, so please buy my bag. I haven't thought about MEC in ages. For real though, it was a scam coin launched with front loaded blocks when that was atypical, and purposely with an ANN that made it look like dogshit so people would ignore it and the mythical Dr. Kimoto could mine it all for himself. Dr. Kimoto was a parody of Satoshi and admittedly did deliver an innovative difficulty adjustment algorithm for the time. That is the extent of his accomplishments. It was massively pumped and dumped during the late 2013/early 2014 alt boom. Just let it die like the shit it has always been.

Instead of making an ass of yourself, just sell your coins and move on.

Bitcoin got pumped n dumped in 2013 too. Like vtr99 said, dump your coins ill buy them no problem. Back in 2013 a lot of coins went up in value for a short time. Many of them no longer exist. Lebowskis come to mind. Megacoin was one of the original alt-coins. There will only be half as many as there are Litecoins, and from different aspects Megacoin is superior. I really don't enjoy bashing people, but those who are either too stupid, or too clueless get what they deserve. There are plenty of junk coins in the list of over 500 alt-coins. Megacoin is consistently near the top. It doesn't take a genius to figure it out... http://bravenewcoin.com/price/price-index/Currently #19, but I'm sure there are much better days ahead.

A few notable Megacoin talking points. - Kimoto's recently announced departure - not much of an effect on anything really
- Plenty of MEC actively exchanged on both cryptsy.com and btc38.com
- MEC core updates being coded by the LIMX team
- Resilient market cap, as regularly mentioned
- MEC listed on blockr.io, which was purchased by Coinbase. Note: very few coins listed on blockr.io
btc38.com is a huge Chinese exchange, the fact that MEC is even listed there is significant. Just as with many alts, you see plenty of big waves of trading followed by slow periods, and so the cycle repeats. It's very easy to go thread hopping and call alts scams and cry because early miners and buyers hold coins, but the facts speak for themselves. It's very likely that MEC continues to stand out among the top mineable coin market caps, and attracts even more attention as focus shifts back to what it evolves into. At a minimum, MEC is already being used as a store of wealth inside of some large exchanges and has been for almost 2 years now.

Ok here we go: Kimoto's recently announced departure - not much of an effect on anything really True, not much of an effect but only because it has already been one and half years since an update. Broken promises not included. Does put the final nail in the coffin for any hope of future groundbreaking projects. Plenty of MEC actively exchanged on both cryptsy.com and btc38.com btc38 yes, cryptsy not so much. MEC is now one of several coins (blk, zccoin, qrk, bost, etc.) that are primarily traded on btc38 and get pumped and dumped together. It appears btc38 has large stashes of these coins, be careful. MEC core updates being coded by the LIMX team This is a good to see after the official Kimoto departure. Hopefully they can address the long block times that have been plaguing the coin this year. It remains to be seen if the exchanges, chinese mining pools, etc. will adopt the core updates though. Resilient market cap, as regularly mentioned See point above on btc38 MEC listed on blockr.io, which was purchased by Coinbase. Note: very few coins listed on blockr.io Yes it is a nice block explorer. But that is it. There have been no updates to it since Coinbase acquired it. Any hope that MEC may be added to Coinbase some day because of it seems far fetched. Still waiting for LTC first. I would never consider MEC a pump and dump. There was simply too much work involved up front. One of the first alt cores based on bitcoin, the wallet, the gravity well, etc. However it will always be to me the alt with the greatest unrealized potential. Maybe some day we will find what (if anything) Kimoto had planned. Take care friends

I know it's a long-shot, but Kimoto talked about doing something that would establish Megacoin for the long term. He said he is no longer developing for Megacoin, but that doesn't mean the projects weren't finished. So I think there is still a possibility that this code could be released. I know it's highly speculative, but the element of surprise has always been one of Megacoin's trademarks. At the very least I hope we find out what those projects were about.

Hash Engineering Solutions is considering removing the Megacoin Wallet Android app from the Google Play store. This won't affect current users.
Does anyone use this app?
