Hello, I recently downloaded bitcoin core and I discovered a problem I havent noticed before.

As you can read in the title I installed it on my external harddrive, this because the computer I like to use only have SSD. Now, I have a few things on my SSD drive - but when I installed the bitcoin core application witch took up about 155 GB on my external harddrive, it presumably also took around 10 GB of my SSD drive on the computer that I used.

Why is that? How can i locate where the files are stored locally?

... and last but not least, can I be wrong?

It might be helpfull to add that i also downloaded the ethereum wallet, but that did not take up any place on my computer as far as i know.

Hope that some of you can help me!

How are you determining that Bitcoin Core took "10 GB of your SSD drive"? Huh

Did you just check the free space and notice that it had dropped? What operating system are you using?

Have you checked this folder C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin ?
Maybe you will find some residual blockchain files there.

HCP:

It is as you say, I just noticed that around 10 GB was wierdly missing, and I had no other installations or anything like that.

Im using Windows 10.

kahc:

Yes, or at least I have tried to, but since it is located on the external harddrive it is no folder on my C-drive / or I can't find any folders connected to bitcoin. Should there be even if I installed it on the external harddrive?

Could be some residual files before it fully moved to the external disk, I am not really sure.
But the AppData folder is hidden, you can access it by typing %appdata% in the "Run window".
Hold down "Windows key" + "r" , then type in %appdata%

If still nothing, then download WinDirStat and see if can locate where the 10GB is from.
Could also be system files(hibernation, system check point, cache, etc,.....)

Thank you so much for trying to help.

I found the "missing 10 GB". The same day I downloaded the ethereum wallet, and first now did i actually find that file. Im sorry for being so stupid.

Everything connected to the bitcoin wallet is connected to the external harddrive, as it should be.

Again, thanks.
