To maximize my profits on long term I like to invest Bitcoins. With AltCoins you can surely make profit, but you don't enjoy the high positive volatility of the currency like Bitcoin.

It's always a good time to invest, just make sure to choose a legit investment. At this moment the best one in my opinion is casino bankroll, you can suffer losses at the beginning, but on long term you make profit. If you want more suggestions about other investments wait for more replies and choose that one you think it's better for you.

Both are good choices but the demand right now is to build own miners or buy mining hardware how much honestly your budget for investment. and  maybe you can afford to buy your own mining rigs or bitcoin mining tools.
But if you are just wanted to hold and sell both altcoin and bitcoin could be  good choice but the price of bitcoin is really high today and  we don't know if the price will continue to increase but if you can hold it for a long time expect that you can make profit in the future.. in altcoin you need to choose good altcoin to make profit mostly top 20 in coinmarketcap are good altcoin to hold and sell that can gives you good profit..  so it will depends in you how you can scaling your investment to make a big profit in the future..

If you not familiar with the crypto market then I suggest first start with Bitcoins and later you can move on to the other altcoin investments. Because altcoin investments need some skills to choose the correct coin based on many factors so being a new investor you may go wrong in the beginning so you should start with Bitcoins.

Some of the good altcoins to consider is ETH, IOTA, ETC, Waves & LTC. This is just for your information before you invest you need to study and take action.

I will suggests you look at both options so that you spread your risk and rewards in which if done the right way, the combination of the returns from both will be more than focusing it on only one option.

In the case of alt, the one that can give the maximum returns is the reputable ICOs that have been 90% adjudged to be the best one and which you have done your analysis to turn out to be a success. Other successful ALT can also be looked at maybe the top 5 Alts but the profit margin might not be high but you are sure to make something out of it.

My last option would be BTC because no matter the increase that bitcoin has gotten, the percentage increase can still not be compared to some Alt coin but the issue is that BTC offers some stability compared to others but since the motive is profit, you can consider alt as a priority and btc as a base to give solid platform for your investments.

I would rather prefer this set-up since I can trust bitcoin good for long term and well established possible on some alts too but I do prefer on shorting altcoin volatility is there which you can able to make money once you hit up the right spot or entry its risky though but very rewarding.

First you have to familiarize yourself in the one you want to invest with wether btc or altcoins. Know the ins and outs and be adept with cryptos. Start small it will eventually grow later on as you progress. lastly the name of cryptos right now is btc thus i think it would be better if you go with it

   I am someone from that many people who bought at higher price. I bought sia at 584 sats.  

I think I will die before the price reaches over 585 sats again.
It was my fault, I didn't sold when I had good profit. I wanted more profit and that was the killer greed.  
I don't know what happened with me at that time, I just broke my own rules and now I am suffering with current result.

You can start with Bitcoin & ETH if you know less about crypto trading. It will help you as beginner because bitcoin & eth is the most volatile coin.
Altcoins are also not bad if compare with profit percentage, but you need to have the ability to choose the right altcoins.

BTC will remain a good option till 10k mark atleast. So in order to make some money one can buy some btc and keep it. For altcoins choose some real good ICO or top 5 coins as per market demand which in a couple of years can give you good returns. As of now altcoins are not giving great returns unless you intend to hold it for long term.

I really don't understand what you are saying.
If BTC reach (and it will) the 10k mark, then what? You will not be able to buy again and invest on it or this will be the end of it's rise?
Implying that BTC is a good investment with a limit, shows that you don't have a clue about crypto and it's idea.

ANY purchace of a coin (not Token) it will be a very good investment either you buy them now or later.
Check the statistics of all the coins through their history. From the day that will appear, until now.
You will be surprised by the price changes that have all been taken and it's not downwards...

By the way, what do you mean "long time"? One to three years it's "long time" for an invesment?!

well I guess siacoin didn't make it to go to the moon. That was really a huge loss. Just think about how many people loss their money because of buying siacoin and expecting that they will earn a huge money from it. But its unexpected siacoin's price goes down. I really prefer earning bitcoins than altcoins. Though bitcoins price may go down. It will still rise in no time.

The key is in differentiation, never put your eggs in the same basket and make sure your coins re safe.

If you do insist on recommendation, I d go with NEO, generated dividend or DMD Diamond, generates PoS interest.

Dont just let anyone tell you this is good and that is bad, ensure you make your own findings about whatever you want to go into. The right time was never predicted as Cryptocurrencies was never meant to be constant in price. If you already have good foundation of knowledge about the cryptocommunitty, I guess you are ready to invest. As many people here say that Bitcoin is the most profitable in the long run the answer is yes. It's volatile and most altcoins are paired with it in exchanges. If you want to invest in altcoins, you must know that there are many new altcoins that are ponzi so you better be careful.
I guess Eth, dash, monero, and BCH, and other most promising coins are listed in coinmarketcap so you do your own research as to where you would invest some of your money, we have our own different opinions so you better choose wisely.
