Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the
subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The
subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Got the piper out from storage and tested it. The best part is that it keeps track of how many prints and my test was #5... I guess I averaged 1 print per year

It does look like a very useful device.
Didn't know there was such a thing.
Surely should fetch some interest.

Only downside is it's on thermal paper Special thermal paper custom for long term printing. I forget the stats, but good for 20+ years. I have the paperwork and will read it and edit this post if interested. There is also a public addy on the back of the unit...not sure why. Edit: paper info https://imgur.com/a/Po7IH

Only downside is it's on thermal paper The rolls that it came with were supposedly a higher quality thermal paper that would last 20 yrs minimum. I've had a few sitting around my office in occasional sunlight for 2+ years and there's no fading.

That sounds about right. I thought it was amazing so bought it ASAP. Once I used it I suddenly did not trust it since I didn’t generate they keys. After making 4 wallets it got tossed in a box and ignored until this thread.
