I've been using Bitcoin-QT as my BTC wallet for the last 6 months.
The initial sync (with approx. 200K blocks) took a couple of days to occur.
Since then, whenever I shutdown my computer for a few days and power it back up, the Bitcoin-QT synchronization takes any where from minutes to hours depending on how long my computer has been offline.
Occasionally, Bitcoin-QT also performed reindexing which performed a lots of disk I/O and generated lots of heat from my harddrive.
If this is the case when there are only approx. 210K blocks, what's going to happen when the number of mined bitcoin blocks approaches a million?
