A couple of minutes ago I received notification for a password change on my original account "falsealarm_bf". I can't recover it as the email address has been changed. Is there any chance of recovering the account?

According to new rules ( see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2282758.0 ) you should have received notification about email change with link to lock the account ( valid for 14 days).

Have you locked your account using that link?
Then you should proceed as mentioned above (if you have not staked BTC address I guess there is no option to recover the account).
