The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

I have never trusted in that wallet, it has almost the same name as MyEtherWallet, and that is the main reason of why i have never trusted in this one, because i dont like the name and the interface that it has.
And they dont have public developers and all those shits and certificate that most online wallets have.
It was a shady one, and i am not surprissed to see that someone got stolen in there because everybody knew that it was going to happen with this kind of wallet, of course.
It is a huge lose, one million dollars oh my god.

This is terrible and all,  and while I feel bad for the people who lost their coins,  people should be using open source wallets that are safe on their computer like electrum in my opinion.  If you need to store crypto online,  then at least use a reputable wallet like coinbase,  but it could become a scam anytime now too.  Sad

It is scam written all over it and i cannot understand why people would use these kind of shady services to hold their tokens when they have tons of legitimate wallets in the market,if people want to take a chance with these wallets they will have to pay the price for taking the risk,as simple as that.
People wont learn from the mistakes of the past and this is really pathetic just feeding the scammers just like that.

It was his decision, nobody told him to put all their funds in there, and of course, to migrate his private key to there.. he had that amount of bitcoins, and risked all that money in order to receive a few tokens for free.
How stupid he was, i would not even expose all my bitcoins who are not even more than 10, to any of those shady sites who are dessesperated for taking out your private keys in order to stole all your money.
It was a shady service, i have never trusted in that wallet at all.

People are not on the same educational level in connection with bitcoin. Someone, who have already educated himself about bitcoin would not give out the private key to a bitcoin gold wallet if they still have their bitcoin in their normal bitcoin wallet...
Imagine that someone has just heard from a friend that it's time to buy bitcoin because there will be a fork and after they will get another pile of coins. Maybe that was their first bitcoin in life and haven't heard about replay protection at all. And they have just claimed the gold and lost the bitcoin as well. We need to spread the knowledge about bitcoin to prevent these kind of problems, but I feel sorry about these people now...

This is why I only use trusted wallets like Blockchain, myEtherwallet. I simply don't trust other wallets i only use the most popular ones. They are surely no scam because they have a lot of users using it.

I also use some other wallets but i am not sure of them that they are 100% no scam. So i am currently testing them.

I received a lot of emails about people saying that MyBTGWallet was the only way to receive those bitcoin goldies for free, and in the moment that i knew that there was a group of people saying that it was the only way to claim out those coins, then i knew that it was going to be a huge scam.
Those people only got hacked or stolen because they knew that they were going to put their private key to a weird wallet, i would never do that, because that is just like telling someone your credit card numbers and your pin. it is ridiculous.

BTG is a shitcoin so I never have opted for it. Now this scam made me realize that bitcoin is the boss and no other shitcoin can take over its place. When BTG listed in the market, its price was around $530 and since then it is only loosing its price. Now it is standing at $121 after scoring almost 7% loss in a trading day. I hope the crypto community will now understand that forks are not good for the bitcoin as well as for their funds. Stay safe and play safe, only with bitcoin!

Its so easy to create a domain name like bitcoingold.org , domain name is only 8usd. Dont just trust any website even it is referred by a good looking domain like bitcoingold.org .

If you want a forked coin then get btc address that you know your private keys.

This sucks badly, anyone who has given this site their seed must move any other coins that have not been touched, BTG was obviously a shady operation, the premine is one example.

What are you talking about? Of cause it's risky giving away your private key for fork-coins but if it is posted on the official page it "should" be safe.
Lost 0.04 btc on this scam / trust in the btg dev team <- this was the mistake. the btg dev team is just incompetent (see btg launch).

I immediately stopped my mining for btg.

People need to learn that their private keys is basically the same as the coins, at least the ones that assigned to that address/key. In all cases you need to first transfer any funds that private key controls to a new private key or address, preferably in a new wallet before attempting to import the old private key somewhere else to claim a fork coin.

This concept is so important I will repeat it:  Move your funds off first before trying to claim any new coins with your private key(s).
