Reviving Multibit?

Is there ever a chance for Multibit's development to be continued by a new set of developers? I use Electrum now but my first choice in the past was always Multibit. I like their interface much better and it is easier to use in my opinion.

I am quite positive there are other Bitcoiners who like Multibit more than Electrum.

It sounds like it would have to be a team and not just one person.  It sounded as though the previous devs wanted to start adding new features and functionality to "catch up" with other wallets, but they couldn't even get caught up on the buglist and persistent issues (some of which were quite serious) to fix first.

I'd like to see MultiBit return, or at least something with a similar interface, but my impression is that it pretty much needs either a major overhaul or even a rewrite from scratch.  Can't say I'm too optimistic given that wallet software development isn't generally renowned as one of the more profitable activities in this ecosystem.  Sounds like more of a labour of love to me.  If someone (or a group of someones) cared enough, I figured they would have stepped forwards by now, so I won't hold my breath.

I have been perfectly happy with the Multibit Classic over the years, enough that I didn't even bother with HD.
Only think it needed is the ability to generate Segwit addresses.
Quite surprised it hasn't been forked and worked on by some keen devs. Unfortunately Java is not one of languages.

It also needs it "fee" functionality to be revamped with the ability to either let you specify custom fees or to at least use fees that are relevant in todays bitcoin environment. It uses "fixed" fees that are often WAY to low to get transactions confirmed in a reasonable length of time (if ever)

I just don't understand why many people still prefer Multibit over Electrum.

Multibit had many problems. Just to name a few:
- it required java
- Multibit Classic often "froze up" and we needed to click on "Reset Blockchain and Transactions" to show transactions and funds again.
- Multibit HD required an additional fee to work!

Basically... because MultiBit HD looked "pretty".

It had the nice rounded corners and fancy UI that people like... right up until they got the "password did not unlock the wallet" bug... or their transaction got stuck because they couldn't set a fee any higher than 50 sats/byte... or they lost their seed backup, and discovered there was no simple way to get the app to tell you what it was... or the way it would randomly decide to make your transactions "unconfirmed"...

I've seen so many people complain about the way Electrum looks... and sure, the UI is a bit "Win95"... but at least the wallet works... and the dev actually gives a shit about it

It has very strange architecture, but it uses Java as aprogramming language. So, probably later someone will pick up this projects.. (at least HD).
