Enjoyed it very much. Great opinions and good luck with the bitcoin transfer business. Looking forward to seeing how that develops.

Thanks for the compliment BTCBOOK.COM,

The only real hole in the Keys->Bitcoins exchange is we don't know how deep the demand for Keys are, and at the exchange rates we'd be talking about (7 or 8 for each BTC at current values) we might run into the problem of overwhelming the market for discount TF2 keys.

Honestly, how many hats can people buy?  I just don't know if the demand is there to equal what we'd get, and if we couldn't resell the keys back into that marketplace for USD than it doesn't work as an exchange, only as a way to cash out of BTC for TF2 keys nobody wants lol.

More investigation is warranted, of course - We will keep you informed.

Watching now, f'n awesome.

Amusing how Bruce wanted to start out doing a weekly show and it went from there, I see you guys already have that in mind, I know there is so much to discuss where there could be enough audio and video combined to just do a 24 hour Bitcoin Network pooling all the shows together and creating unique content.

And yes I typed that thought 'outloud' so you deep dark webmasters that just like creating huge sites, get on it (or Atlas, get on that, your domain would work with this lol).

Good points regarding Bitcoin and entrepreneurs.  I am going to hit "Post" now before I type out a thought after every couple of minutes  Tongue  Good show so far, awesome to see you two on with Bruce

I disagree the key exchange system would be useful. You would need to convince a bunch of uninterested third parties (people who actually want tf2 keys) to go through some hassel steps just to save 10 cents or whatever.

That is not going to happen on any useful scale.

See my post above - The issue is "ease of conversion"

right now if you want to buy bitcoins with USD, you have to jump through lots of hoops - either a wire transfer, or use a middle man with credit cards (and pay big fees when you do)

The IDEA for this exchange is a good one, because getting USD into the Keys is easy, pay with anything including paypal and Valve is the master account, so no chance paypal will try to disrupt it.  Like I say in my earlier post, the only real question is if enough people want to buy it to make a market.  I have my doubts

Sure it sounds easy to exchange in one way keys -> bitcoins, but there is no matched equivalent on the other end. You need people who WANT keys and HAVE bitcoins to complete this system.

On the side my impression without knowing anything else about you guys, is that you come off as extremist paranoid conspiracy buffs.  Which isnt anything in particular against you I guess. That is interesting enough that your kind and the regular speculative amateur day trade gamblers are interested in the same technology is something to note I guess.

Not neccesarily, it could just be an exchange service like any other payment processor, except instead of processing from bank wire, etc. it would accept these keys.

But there needs to be a large end-market for the keys, so they can be turned into USD, which can then fund the purchase of Bitcoins which can then be traded for keys, etc.  You see?   The question is, does that end-user demand exist?   Certainly you can find people selling these keys and other people buying them, but how large is it? is it enough?

I get the impression that the only reason Atlas and Atom are entertaining this idea is that neither of them has a credit card and wants to start up a venture that doesn't require them to have one.

Great show guys and I dig the voluntary donation model. I also agree with Bruce on transparency and the need for an "opt in" function or a deliberate pool rather than an automatic program. Encouraging people to do one or the other while tuning into the podcast seems wise.

It takes a while, but voluntary donation models tend to pay off once you get a user base. Shame is a nice incentive.

Also interesting idea on the TF2 "Steam shortcut."

As another thought, I am very much liberty-minded and in agreement with nearly all of your arguments on the show; however, it seems wise to acknowledge that the private army argument is simply a weak point in anarcho-capitalist marketing. It's akin to a so-con making the "raped women should be refused abortions" argument. It may be entirely principled and accurate, but it is never going to win you much support no matter how eloquently it is argued.

Nothing serious, but a point I have frequently noted while watching anarcho-capitalists try to convert statists.
