For those that aren't aware, there is a site call LocalBitcoins.com that connects buyers and sellers locally for face-to-face transactions. There are no banks or exchanges involved -- just cash. It is really easy.

Here's how to buy:

1. Go to localbitcoins.com and sign up.
2. Enter your zip code on the main page and pick someone on the list in your area. If you live in a rural area, you might be out of luck. Click on BUY.
3. Read the seller's info and enter the amount you want to buy. Round USD and EUR amounts are the most convenient since you are paying cash.
4. Click on TRADE REQUEST. You will get a code that will be used to verify that the seller has sent your bitcoins.
5. The seller will respond and agree on a time and place. Some sellers never respond. If the seller doesn't respond within a few hours. Cancel it and try another one.
6. Get the cash and meet the seller. Show him the money. He will transfer the bitcoins to your localbitcoins wallet (or any address of your choosing).
7. If the bitcoins are transferred to your localbitcoins wallet, he will be given a code that matches your code. A transfer to any other address (such as blockchain.info) requires you to verify that the money was actually transferred.
8. Give him the money and you are done.

The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the first distributed timestamping system.

After paying an outrageous price for some btc, and falling into the hands of some scammers.
I finally came across localbitcoins and so far everything has worked out perfectly for me on there.
I've only done online transactions this far but, plan on meeting with a guy in my area I found there to cut down on other fees.
