I fear that it's malicius. It reminds me of the bitcoin's price checking app that used to be there on the play store but got deleted for being malicious and stealing people's info.

Ahh, don't worry - this app has only two permissions - "access network state" and "internet". So it is not possible that it can get any info from your device, such as contacts or messages.
