Citibank will no longer process any transfers to Mt Gox due to association with Liberty Reserve

submitted 15 hours ago by Aidonia

I just had an interesting call from my New Zealand bank, Kiwibank. They were calling to let me know that the international wire template I had setup for transferring $NZ to Mt Gox Japan will be cancelled.

Citbank processes all of Kiwbank's international wire transfers, and it was under their instruction that all transfers to Mt Gox be ceased. The reason given was due to Mt Gox's association with Liberty Reserve, who are undergoing investigations surrounding drug trafficking finances.

This was as much info as the woman calling could give me. I'm not sure whether Citibank processes the other NZ bank's wire transfers also, but certainly my preferred funding method is no more Sad

Any updates to this, can anyone confirm that they have sent / received USD wires to / from Gox via a Citibank account recently?

The support still sent me mail saying Citibank or any bank that uses Citibank as intermediate bank will not not be able to receive incoming wire.

I already cash out most of my money transferring bitcoin elsewhere. Not happy to pay the huge fee on spread and commission on buying and then selling again. Good thing is, I will never have to deal with Mtgox again.

I can confirm I attempted to withdraw from gox to citi via wire transfer and after about 7 business days of hearing nothing from gox, I sent an support email, they replied saying citibank has declined the wire transfer and the funds were returned.  So with no okpay, dwolla, and banks droppin' like flies, it's getting harder to use these sources to retriever your fundage lol.  OTC looking better & better as the daaays goooo byyyyy
