I've been watching/thinking about getting into BT(as currency and as a trader) for a while and finally decided to jump in..

Hello fellow noob. You should also take a look into LTC as well, since that one is looking ready to rise due to an MTGOX announcement and such.

I should say that at the moment BTC is looking like its on a downward movement so I would be a tad bit more patient on getting some.

If you are trying to be a day trader and like being risky you should try some of the alt currencies they are pretty interesting as well.

The most interesting thing about the Ripple project is its technologies, in which both world banks and payment systems are interested. I did, but it's not easy to hold. Went through the big run up to 1k. Fell down with it to the hundreds, left it alone, came back to the rises last year, and fell back with it again. Take it from me, don't daytrade kiddos.
