Hey guys, before i started getting into crypto currency i had doubt. Despite the good thing about cryptocurrency that it works without corrupt banks, I was doubting to start because i heard cryptocurrency has a big environmental impact, and i know more people still have doubt because of this reason. Are there people working to make cryptocurrency more 'eco-friendly'? This would get a lot more people involved in the cc world!
Thanks in advance.

That's somewhat true because mining a crypto currency requires a lot of power. Most of the mining setups are using conventional power source like thermal power units which uses coal for producing electricity. So it has a significant environmental impact.

I believe China has already announced to discontinue subsidised electricity to the mining companies. Also I have seen some mining farms ar using alternate electricity like solar panels or windmills to power their farms. Considering the depletable nature of natural resources, at one point we all will have to move to the alternative source of power. But it has nothing to do with the sustainability of the cryptos because we have alternative options available. It may be costly at the initial stage but way more cheaper in long run.

Thankyou Soham for your informative reply. Do you by any chance know some coins who make use of wind/solar power? I want to invest in them and can inform my network. Thanks again. Cheers
