I have a 16 core processor on an old deep learning machine that I rewired to GPU mine. This leaves me with quite a bit of extra processing power in the CPU to mine with. What is the best coin to CPU mine right now? For reference, my electricity is free.

Monero, of course. The price now is more than pleasant. Remember that the optimal number of cores for mining is considered to be a form L3 cache/2

Remember that the optimal number of cores for mining is considered to be a form L3 cache/2 Monero just because it's the most established/profitable? I've been reading some things about new CPU coins like Yenten, but with anything new it'll be a risk.

if your cores more than MB cache, better to mine Aeon.

Yes, +1 for aeon. Lower CPU temp and usage. Lower power consuming, okay price for CPU coin. Cryptonight light.

My L3 cache is 20MB so I can only use 10 cores on Monero/Electroneum. Aeon would be better in this case?

Profit switching on cryptonote would be best. Whatever is the most profitable cryptonote coin at a given time based on difficulty and price.

Would you recommend any specific client-side profit switchers specifically? Or would you recommend writing my own bash/python client? Shouldn't be too hard I imagine.

Nicehash supports cryptonote, it would be the easiest.

I mine electroneum with my shit processor. Getting 10/day, its not profitable but i think the coin will rise in value in the future, making it profitable.

I guess monero is not a bad option. Maybe there are other not famous minable coins too!

I'd be mining Credits(CRDS) with your spare CPU cores as it si a CPU only coin. https://crds.co
