The argument is moot as any counter-party risk (despite if it is an alt-coin exchange or bitcoin-only exchange) is essentially the same.

Are you saying there's no difference between the [Edit: chance] of a successful 51% attack occurring against Bitcoin versus the chance of one ocurring against other proof-of-work crypto coins?
