As a newbie considering making his first purchase I'm looking for some advice as to which coin would be the most beneficial to invest in now (mid-long term).
My starting budget is 500 GBP (approx. 662.31 USD).
I'll be using coinbase so my options are Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Stay Frosty.
MDH.

Invest all-in to Bitcoin. Didn't you see how Bitcoin performed in 2017? Someone who bought in January 2017 would already be 6x-7x of their initial investment. LOL, it sounds like a marketing line for a HYIP, but that's what happened. There is no guarantee that Bitcoin would keep rising though, but for mid-long term holding, your safest bet would be Bitcoin. Things are also looking good for 2018 with more big-conventional financial institution jumping in every day, starting with CME's Bitcoin futures trading in December next month. I'm sure a lot of similar exchange would follow their step soon.

Thanks for your response.
I have seen the growth charts - astronomical, if only I'd known earlier!
I was just wondering if any other coins had similar prospects to inflate in a similar way - litecoin for example.

Short term maybe. Long term I personally see little future in alts outperforming BTC. Historically none of the major alts managed to stabilize relative to BTC. I doubt that this will change in the future, but it's hard to tell really.

Start with Bitcoin and Ethereum. As your stake increases spread it into Top 5 coins with 1-2 outliers.

You have a very nice list up there and I must say if you stick to those ones, you make profit without stress although lower than you expectation. Any of the above will get you profit but my opinion, is to focus on Litecoin while you give some lower percentage to other two options and the reason for that is because, Litecoin is still below $70 which makes it a high potential for growth without unnecessary noise that happens to the other two in a case there is a significant increase in their value.

This was my initial thinking.
I'm considering investing $100 into each of the three stated in my initial post with hopes to a steady increase in Bitcoin and Ethereum and hopefully a larger increase in litecoin should I leave all three investments for a year minimum.
Thanks everybody for your responses.

Additional question:
Coinbase - Would you suggest buying from coinbase and keeping what you've bought in your coinbase wallet?
If not, why? If yes, why?
Blockchain - benefits?
Thanks in advance,
MDH.

I propose you start with Ethereum because its price is cheaper than bitcoin so you can buy more and in 2018 eth price can grow up very high so you will can get higher profit

I would suggest starting with the Waves because you can easily get it, and it is not currently very expensive like ETH and investing in it does not require so much of us.

I'd suggest the majority to go onto bitcoin ($400 and then maybe spread either 100 or 2x50 over another 2 coins...)

Yes, starting with ETH is a good choice for now, BTC is too high for new investors . ETH's price is just around 300$ . It's the best choice for us.

I think I will buy one full ETH if/when the price drops as it seems to be on the rise at the moment, but I wont leave it too late and will do so before the New Year - the rest I will invest in Bitcoin, however small the percentage may be.
Thank you all for your advice.

I think you shouldn't go with Bitcoin anymore, just focus everything on the altcoins which could bring huge profits and chances for you.
