Best of GTX 1070s

When it comes to fans I understand the best option is to go the the 3 fans 1070 but what about the 2 fans, single fan and mini 1070s, are they still good for mining or do we need to consider proper rig cooling with these cards ?

you should buy from a site where they have a good return policy, you buy the cards, you test if it's Samsung, if not, send it back.

But this way you'll never get to keep a single card since all 1070s come with Micron now. 

That's how I got Samsung models for all my cards.

Have you recently bought any 1070s? Or are you talking about 1060s? It's a lot easier to get Samsung ram with 1060s, still plenty of them out there. But not with 1070s, not anymore.

I got Samsung ram on GTX 1060 recently, I bought my GTX 1070 last year so I don't know.

GTX 1070 is a good card (I have one in my desktop) but it's twice the price of a GTX 1060 for only 33% more hash rate. With my GTX 1070 I get 32MH/s for a card around 400€, my GTX 1060 reach 24MH/s for 200€ (even less if you're in the US) and less power (75W!)

Agree mate. But I live in a place where real estate is damn costly. So I want to use comparatively a powerful ones and  squeeze them into a small space lol . TIs are bit costly here.

At proper overclocking/downvolting settings it gives about 470 Sol/s at 140W, But cooling system is not the best (it's good but not best). At the same conditions the difference of temperatures of Gigabyte G1 and Aorus about 5-7 degrees (for my instalation)

so this kinda question of the price level. Overall I'm very satisfied with asus dual for its price and performance.

Is good card but uses 30w more than a normal 1070 (150w).My best G1 hits 500 sol/s when overclocked.
It also runs about 2-3C cooler due to a really nice cooler design (3 fans vs. two)
I do think it is the best looking though and feels like a weapon when you hold it.

Thanks for sharing your views. But can you please clarify Which one gives you 470 sols and which one one is hotter? G1 or Aorus?

I've always had really good luck with EVGA products just for simplicity, value, and performance.  This includes their power supplies.  So yeah, wait for EVGA sales and stick with that as a 1070 choice.  Then again, 1080 prices are coming down too so if you are looking for port density 1080 is pretty good too.

I'm waiting to 2018.Feb, as the roadmap of Nvidia that time they may release new series GTX 20xx, so maybe we could get some cheaper GTX 10xx.

As you have mentioned almost all of the cards are almost performs the same the answer is silicon lottery.
It will really depend on how lucky you are in the silicon lottery so if you can get the best binned GTX 1070 then good for you. As for the brand go for the cheapest can in the market it is really not good for you to get the priciest GTX 1070 for like ASUS, EVGA and MSI unless if you are in for the aesthetics which is uncommon for a miner. So I suggest go for GALAX, PALIT or ZOTAC since they are cheaper and also creates goo AIB GPUs.

Sorry, I confused the models G1 and Windforce (two fans). I've no G1 models. I've several Gigabyte Windforce OC GTX1070. And them are 5-7 degrees hotter than Gigabyte Aorus. Both give about 470 Sol/s at 140W

I have 3 Gigabyte G1 Gaming and 1 EVGA Superclocked 2.

(I also have 5 x 1060 6GB of various brands but the best of them are definitely the MSI 1060 Gaming though they are a little more power hungry)

I got lucky because I got 2 of the G1s a while ago and they are Samsung VRAM but the 3rd newer one is Micron. The EVGA is Micron.
 
All the cards run at around 60 degrees with the fans set to 60-70%, ambient temp lately in the 25-30 degree range, even though the G1s are 3 fan and the EVGA is dual fan.

The G1s are way more overclockable both core and memory - one of them will run stable at core 2085-2100 & memory +800 and responds to all the adjustments MSI afterburner will do, whereas the EVGA seems to just decide it's own powerlimit no matter what I do. I had some  more success initially using Nvidia Inspector instead of Afterburner but then it started crashing a lot so I abandoned it.

So long story short I really like the G1 Gaming and if I were buying more 1070's (which I can't really afford) I would definitely get more of them, even with them now having Micron VRAM. The 2 Samsung ones are happy at +800 which is great for dagger/hashimoto but the micron gets unstable above around +680.

I use them mostly for Lyra2v2 (Vertcoin) lately but sometimes equihash or neoscrypt and the G1s all do better that whattomine.com says they will while the EVGA is on par with what they say.

I am a big fan of the MSI Gaming X 1070s been using 3 of them and they are cranking along doing an excellent job in the high 400 sols/s on ZEC using only 70 percent power and +150 Core / +600 memory.  Very stable, the only issue is they take both a 6 pin and a 8 pin so keep that in mind.

Zotac AMP's (double fan) are shit, Over 30% fan failure rate within 6 months.

Warranty covers for mining usage as well? Or say you just don’t mention it when claiming warranty? Most likely the later right ?
