It did work if you sent BTC to your Bitfinex account and had it credited as of block height 491,407 (last month). That's when the Bitcoin Gold snapshot was taken. It's too late to do that now.

But if you were holding BTC in a wallet you controlled at Block #491,407, your BTG are held in that wallet. You can export the private keys and import them into a BTG wallet like Coinomi.

Note: You should always move your BTC to a new address first before importing the private keys into another wallet.

Is Bitifinex a good site to invest my BTC? I'm planning to park my BTC savings, just no trading, just parking, i'll take it as a forget money. Will open it after 5years. So soon I will get any free bitcoin fork coins by just parking my Bitcoin.

It's one of the biggest exchanges right now and it's located in Hongkong, that means the Chinese government can't harm it. So yeah, definitely a good place for trading BTC. But if you want a really secure place where you can just park your coins, then use a hardware wallet like Nano Ledger.
