If it had been possible, china government would have done it much before to block bitcoin completely in its country. But it has tried to do it step by step by first banning ICOs,then implying very strict regulations against bitcoin exchanges and now trying to issue a new coin wechat.Same is the case with russia. But in china, people still trade bitcoins in countersales with people directly.
SO,bitcoin could not be completely blocked by governments.

They didnt even tried to block btc. They can do a lot of things, all major internet providers can implement just few filters and you wont be able to see any btc node. Who got the blockchain's satellite equip atm?

the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence. i've outlined how it could be accomplished in my previous post right before yours. i dont think china wants to ban cryptocurrencies outright, if anything, i think the chinese regime would want to find a means to control the cryptocurrency market above an outright ban. with bitcoin and cryptos in general on the rise, it only makes sense that any degree of control over the system puts a group at a pretty serious position of power, maybe even one that could give them enough influence to benefit greatly if cryptocurrencies take off even further. besides, if they wanted to ban bitcoin, it's a simple matter for the government to write legislation outright banning the use and possession of crpyocurrencies; they wouldn't have to be so roundabout by banning ico's and imposing regulations.

Hello,
I am reading a lot on the internet about the fact that Bitcoin is not stoppable as not centralized.
However what would happen if a government decision to implement DPI blocking of Bitcoin protocol?
Seems it is fairly easy for a government to do so at ISP level... On top of it exchange could be blocked with a firewall on top of all others kinds of bitcoin forum etc...
Thanks for your opinion.
Eventhough certain legislation can be passed by governments to suppress Bitcoin trending, it would be extremely difficult to be completely eradicated by any government. This is because ISP blockages can still be eluded via the use of VPN and satellite

It is indeed a very possible thing to happen. The government has a fairly sophisticated technology and can do anything with the existing network protocols in the country. but I also believe that we all have the power and also technology that can fool the government, With today's technology we can easily do network manipulation and this can make Bitcoin stick, we can all do anything with Bitcoin and we are free to do various transactions .

They can't block bitcoin, they can only block the websites where you can use, buy and trade bitcoins.

IT is impossible for a government to stop the block chain as it doesn't have any specific server to be blocked, unlike a website if government decided to stop it they can just block it's IP to be accessed.

It can't. There are many nodes that Bitcoin has, more than what sites like coin.dance say and it's impossible to find them, let alone block all of them. They could attempt to ruin Bitcoin's quality of service by blocking exchanges, forums and web wallets, but people would still be able to use it and they'd find a way to do all of these things.
It's also important to note that any ISP blockages can be circumvented by using a VPN, thus it wouldn't even be remotely effective. The only way to stop Bitcoin is by not using the Internet at all, like North Korea does.
If the government blocked wallet and exchange services, Well i say to you that we can still access them. If we will use TOR or VPN that hides our IP, We can access them. The only thing to do is to disable the internet service. But no one will trying to disable it. In other words, Government will not be able to block wallet and exchange services here in bitcoin world.

Right. It would be impossible for the government to block BTC since this is not a centralized system. They would really find it hard to stop us from having access to bitcoin because we know exactly what bitcoin had done to our lives the most positive way.

Bitcoin is created from Blockchain technology. They can be removed or changed by anyone. However, government can damage by block exchanges or ICO activities

It is so impossible for the government to block bitcoin because they need to communicate with other countries government. Maybe they can ban bitcoin, but they can never block it fully or completely because there are a lot of people who will oppose it and worst, will do some rallies against the government if that would definitely happen.

The best thing that the government can do to bitcoin is to ban it and there is no where that they can block it or stop people from mining it. So it's a null effort and there is nothing that they can do about it.

block bitcoin? I think it can not, because bitcoin is the virtual currency, which circulation through internet network, so if it will block the bitcoin the government must shut down the country's internet network
