Nobody will be able to give a defenitive answer to this question... Some people will tell you they think BTC will reach $10k before the end of the year, others will tell you they have credible calculations to support their theory it'll fall to $5k in a couple of weeks.

Personally, i'd suggest you have a look at the speculation subforum, and read up on bitcoin. If you personally believe it will rise, you can invest a little bit of your money. But never invest more than you're confortable losing. At any rate, bitcoin is a high risk/high reward investment.

Btw: you do know you don't have to buy 1 BTC at a time, right? Bitcoin has 8 decimals, the smallest amount you can theoretically buy is 0.00000001 BTC

you don't have to buy 1 bitcoin! just buy something smaller like $20 worth of bitcoin which is 0.00243902BTC at $8200 ignoring the fees. you are free to choose how much you invest after all.

and newbie is meaningless in my opinion. the information is easily obtained. you can do some research for a couple of hours and become well informed if you are willing to spend the time and also only if you read reliable sources not random comments on the internet.

It doesn't matter if you're a newbie, if you think it will go up then it's worth it. I think it will go higher (not sure how much although some say 10,000 by year's end).

Is bitcoin still a good investment for newbies?

Yes all the time, all the way bitcoin is a good investment mostly for newbies. If you are new to this, what you have to do is to learn it first so that you'll know on how it is totally good to invest in bitcoin.

Is it worth to pay almost $8200 for 1 BTC today?

I did mentioned that all the time and all the way bitcoin is a good investment but on this part, you had to ask yourself if you are able and if not just wait for the dip.

If you want to get into bitcoin, or any investement in stock or similar. Everyone will tell you not to purchase everything as once. If you do, you risk buying on the top, so to speak. So better to buy 0,2 and then do it over 5 weeks or a longer period.

Being a newbie doesn't subject you to buy 1 bitcoin . Always make a deal which does not leave you with a huge loss in the future . It is foolish to assume that buying 1 bitcoin is necessary . 90% of the users have not bought a bitcoin at once ( except the ones who are funding for some campaigns ) . According to the funds you have you can use some of it to buy some fraction of bitcoin . It is never too late to buy bitcoin , since it is speculated to rise it will be a very good time to buy some part of it .

if you can afford to lose the such amount of money, go for that, but the idea is to buy a fraction of BTC and wait.
There is no crystal ball who will tell you when it's the next drop or pump of BTC price, my advice is to buy a fraction and do the same slowly every week/month.
Remember to not go full head down into this world, stay safe, go slowly and keep buying Smiley

Jumping in at all-time-highs isn't typically wise.

You might be better off grabbing some altcoins until the BTC dust settles.

Always doubt.

Time will tell. You don't have to buy 1 BTC, buy each month a bit. It looks expensive but who knows what the price will be in 2020 ..

If it will cost a lot for an investor then we don't need to be in a hurry because we will just lose if we will just so excited to invest and buy bitcoin but after a couple of days or weeks we are waiting for the outcome as we wanted to get our investment, so better to just buy btc in what is comfortable for us and let us just hold it and add more when we want to.

Is bitcoin still a good investment for newbies? Is it worth to pay almost $8200 for 1 BTC today?

Same question was being asked when price reached $1,000 for the first time since it's large crash. After that price crash, bitcoin price was stuck for $200+ levels for about half a year IIRC and even $500 was considered as high price. When it reached $1,000 level , some average newbies thinks if it "still" a good time to enter bitcoin investment eventhough the price was high. And same question again was being asked after hitting $1,500 , $2,000 , $3,000 and so on.....

Now for those who are still investing at the current price, did they actually know what will happen? Why they still invest? Newbies that wants to enter bitcoin investment must understand the risks the moment they bought bitcoin at the current price. Is it worth to pay $8,000+ for a whole fraction of bitcoin? They will never know until they will try. If they are afraid of losing then better disregard investing and asking that kind of question.

I guess waiting for that dip will took longer days to happen mate, and for those newbies who will buy btc at that expensive price I guess they really have enough wealth for investment capital. For those newbies who didn't have enough, maybe they can purchase bitcoin amounts but not with that price in full amount. Eventually you can start an investment with small amount and when that assets grows, then the increase of profit will become compounding if you don't sell it right away and you will learn how to wait for an exact time to decide what's the best price to dump.

In my opinion it is worth it only if you ready to wait for more than a year or so. If you are thinking to cash out after few weeks or month, this might not be the right time to invest in BTC at $8200.

Nobody can answer this question for you. It is worth or not, it is depend your finance ability and your way of investment. If you believe bitcoin can price up much more than 8200$, you can buy it to saving or trading, it's up to you. You are a newbie so my advice is research more about market and invest carefully with your money. Many people become rich thanks to bitcoin but many people are broke because of bitcoin. Be a smart investor.

It's for a newbie or an high ranked member it is the same price. If one can afford, surely profiting is possible in the short or long run. Else if you prefer it to be an investment then without any further thinking it's good to buy a bitcoin. Because people have predicted that the price will go as high as $500k.

There's already been some great advice on this thread but as someone else new to crypto, permit me to give you a suggestion: Determine an amount you're willing to invest.  Make sure you're comfortable risking that amount  - don't bet more than you can afford Smiley

Then split that amount  60/40, or 75/25, or  80/20... whatever works best for you. If I were you, I would put the majority into Bitcoin, and the other percentage into altcoins that interest you. There are loads of threads and some great info on this forum. That allows you to get some Bitcoin, but also diversify your risk a little bit.  It's impossible for anyone to say whether $8200 will be considered high for BTC, or low for BTC in the long run, so spreading your investments a little isn't a bad strategy.

Good luck Smiley
