Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

Here is a simple explanation of it

https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/114/what-is-a-satoshi

Quote
A Satoshi is the smallest fraction of a Bitcoin that can currently be sent: 0.00000001 BTC, that is, a hundredth of a millionth BTC. In the future, however, the protocol may be updated to allow further subdivisions, should they be needed.

Further examples of units

1 BTC = 1,000 mBTC (millibitcoin)
1 BTC = 1,000,000 μBTC (microbitcoin)
1 BTC = 100,000,000 Satoshis
1 mBTC = 100,000 Satoshis
1 μBTC (microbitcoin) = 100 Satoshis

CAn somebody link me what is the meaning of satoshi? I just dont get it.
The unit of Bitcoin value reaches 8 digits behind the comma. Satoshi is the smallest unit of value of Bitcoin. Either this name may have been taken from an anonymous Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto. 1 satoshi equals 0.00000001BTC (Bitcoin). 10 satoshi equals 0.00000010BTC. While Bits is another nickname of uBTC (microbitcoin), 1 uBTC is worth 100 satoshi. For 1 mBTC (millibitcoin) equal to 100000 satoshi or 0.001BTC. To be more clear please refer to the comparison below:

0.00000001BTC = 1 satoshi
0.00000010BTC = 10 satoshi
0.00000100BTC = 100 satoshi = 1 Bits / uBTC
0.00001000BTC = 1000 satoshi = 10 Bits / uBTC
0.00010000BTC = 10000 satoshi = 100 Bits / uBTC
0.00100000BTC = 100000 satoshi = 1000 Bits / uBTC = 1 mBTC
0.01000000BTC = 1000000 satoshi = 10000 Bits / uBTC = 10 mBTC
0.10000000BTC = 10000000 satoshi = 100000 Bits / uBTC = 100 mBTC
1BTC = 1 Bitcoin

Check out the article on coinsutra titled What is Satoshi? Satoshi To BTC & USD Converters.
It's written in Plain English and is pretty down to earth.

There are also converters for that, if you find it more convenient using a calculator.
btcsatoshi is one of those and it's easy to use.
