Atlas,
How long would the running time be? I'm just curious, because I think I could do that in a relatively short time, being familiar with nonlinear video editors and the like. Let me know, and I'll try my hand at it.
Preferably 30 seconds, which I have a feeling would be hard. I had some media guy email me over this with a simple "let's do this". Does that happen to be you, by chance? Haha.

Two concurrent stories: 1. person who inserts a dollar bill in a vending machine repeatedly, just to have it spit back out at him/her. 2. Another who simply sends a few bitcoins with their cell phone and receives their convenience food.
"Use Bitcoin, for the love of packaged snacks!"
What, not convincing enough?

There are unforeseen social benefits to bitcoin transactions. Try to think of things people haven't thought much about. Remember those credit card commercials about the speed of swiping a card versus paying cash and making change? There are going to be ways to used bitcoins with smartphones that haven't been thought of yet that make bitcoins more useful and fun than cash or credit.

Seriously, it's only going to take an easy to use smartphone app to go viral to send bitcoin skywards. As long as it checks the market, uses a barcode scanner, has a secure wallet, and is fast, we will have a useful ninja currency. Make a commo about that.
Bitcoin = ninja currency +1

Nope, wasn't me - but I'll give it a shot and see if I can fit a 30-second window. It may go to a minute, though. I'll let you know if I have something in a few days. Edit: Well, saw someone else is running with it in the "Donations for a Bitcoin Video Ad" thread, so I guess I'll work on something else

I don't like that ad idea. It seems a lot more like a circlejerk for people who already know about bitcoin. What you need to do is come up with an ad that shows bitcoin to newcomers. The ad you have is way too dramatic for Joe Schmoe to take it seriously.
What you need to do is open it with a talk about what type of values bitcoin has. Freedom, choice, no central authority, complete control, anonymity, etc. These are personal values about how the world should work. Bitcoin is merely a way to meet those values.
So you talk about values, then you introduce bitcoin, then you briefly explain what bitcoin is and how it works, and you give a URL for more info. Just my 2 cents...

I love the idea but it screams. Cheap scare tricks, and might make a lot of people think bitcoins is something from russia. Though zeitgeist is one of the most viewed documentaries...
But, be sure to test the advertizing and see if it is effective.
I believe that showing people what they have to earn from owning bitcoins is better in the long run.
Brainstorming:
How about?
What "currency" increased a thousandfold in value over one year and is expected to continue to rise in value? Answer: Bitcoin
What currency has lost a 1000%? since it was introduced in 1920? Answer: The dollar
What "currency" is controlled by no government, but all the people on the earth? Answer: Bitcoin
How can you send in one second all over earth 24h a day to anyone with no fee? Answer: Bitcoin
What will revolutionize the way people do business? Answer: Bitcoin

This is a terrible idea.
Right from the start you're alienating at least 47% of the audience (Obama's current approval ratings), and from then on you will further alienate others who disagree with the political agenda crammed into this.
I personally do not disagree with everything you have put here, but why would you make this some sort of propaganda ad?
Bitcoin has real benefits, not just political grudge bonuses. Bitcoin is a currency, it is not some revolutionary concept targeted at overthrowing some evil.
Assuming this is going to be made, make the ad about Bitcoin and the problems it would solve for transactions, not politics.
Please don't alienate yet more people from trying Bitcoin out.

I've heard of that, it's a clever way that Satoshi proved a timestamp while perhaps opinionated as well. And? I think you missed the part where I said I didn't entirely disagree with your politics. We just don't want to make people think Bitcoin is primarily conspiratorial and alienate them, when the point is to encourage people to adopt Bitcoin. Right?
