Hi,

I have a question reg. thermal paste. I have thermal paste that has been lying with me for a year or so and before don't know for how much time it was on the shelf. There is no expiry on the container.

Would be thankful if anyone could let me know if I can still use it. Right now its in the state of thick paste of grey color.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Regards,

Rizwan

Shipping beats perfection. So "ship" and then improve (that 1%).

It would seem to be ok. Paste can't really spoil because the compound isn't perishable!

As to Its efficacy, shouldn't be a problem.

Or just buy a new tube!

Just noticed my thermal pastes don't have expiry dates too. But its fine because thermal pastes are cheap and this usually should be a non-issue.

I guess to answer your question, you can take mine for example. I bought them a year ago and I just used it last week when I reapplied it on one of my overheating CPUs. Temps went down normally as expected so yeah I don't think thermal paste expires that easily. Mine is color gray too.

should be fine, as long as it looks fine/normal when it comes out of the tube.

The only time when I destroyed a few GPUs was when I changed the thermal paste.

It did nothing to the overall temperature but I mananged to damage one GPU die, dropped another GPU, broke a fan blade on another.

So avoid changing the thermal paste, if will do more damage than good.
