There are so many out there. I just don't know what should I mine. FTC, LTC, Memecoin, Worldcoin....
What is you opinion? Which alternate coin is the future?

LTC look solid. The problem is that my hash rate is 233 khs so I can't really mine a lot of LTC. On the other hand I can mine 1000 memecoins per day. Should I do that?

just do whatever makes you happy    Grin

if I were you though, I would get better rigs, and get your hash rate more than 9,000 (hehehe) if you consider mining to be a serious business

if it's just a hobby then its ok, mine whatever you want   Cheesy

Litecoin definitely seems the way to go even if you have a sub-9kh/s rig and want to just let it ride without playing the exchange market to min/max.

Otherwise you could try your hand at some of the other alt coins and see if the market will let you pull out some magic!

I typically have one machine pointed at Litecoin pools and another set to pick up a handful of Stablecoins/Fastcoins for trade fodder. Just have fun though! I just recently got into mining and it's been a pretty interesting experience.

Good luck!

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=134179.0

^ Good summary of the altcoins. Some have a foreseeable future and many don't. Definitely worth considering carefully before you spent a lot of time mining any of them. Each should have at least their own [ANN] thread in that forum subsection, and the larger ones even have dedicated websites.

Another concern regards the use of SHA-256 or scrypt algorithm for the mining (You can easily find out which coin uses what here: http://coinchoose.com/index.php) Those that use SHA-256 depend on high gpu core speeds and usually very low memory speeds. Eg overclocked cores and underclocked memory. This is great for cooling the card because you can just monitor the core temps with something like GPU-Z and put watercooling on the core(s) if you prefer a quieter miner. The problem with scrypt is that it requires a more 'normal' balance of GPU and memory speed performance... such as you would want for gaming except that the load on the hardware will be closer to 100% at all times while in a game it may not be. This results in huge heat generation in the RAM chips and memory VRM(s) of the card. Depending on the card this might be a problem at its default stock speeds or it might only become a problem when you start overclocking. My point being it is very easy to kill a card using scrypt mining if you have heatsink-less memory chips. For example on my 5750 if I run it with a modest overclock the RAM chips exceed 100 deg C. But you might not notice until you smell burning because they are not thermally monitored on most cards. (And yeah, I gave scrypt a miss after that and went back to mining SHA-256 on all my cards).

Unless there is a new Altcoin that provides a lot more benefits over Bitcoin I haven't seen yet: None of them.

I think BTCitcoin is the future, LTC might survive but I don't see any taking over BTCitcoin in the near future.

Bitcoin and Litecoin. The only way those others will work is if they get large amounts of hashing that continue to support the network. Most die off after awhile. LTC is here to stay along with BTC.

Bitcoin
First of all, sorry but I don't see Bitcoin being viable for everyday use by the average person, I don't see it being used to buy daily items like groceries, clothing, and to buy a quick coffee on the high street. You just cant stand at a till and wait 10 minutes for that first confirmation to go through,  before they pass you your cappuccino which is now cold!....and... sadly...'sooorry Sir/Madam, but we doown't dooo reeefunds, and you got no chance of getting one!',  (Damn.. why didn't I just pay in fiat).

On the other hand, given that Bitcoin is the Daddy of all alts, and will, or should, always be the front runner, I do see it as a means for banks, and companies, to transfer funds globally, quicker and 'much much' more efficiently than the current, labour intensive, extremely costly, time consuming method that is currently used. Also Bitcoin will prevail for online purchases, and to fund your gambling addiction  Wink

Litecoin
I do have my crystal ball in front of me  Smiley, and I see Litecoin, the coin used for settling bills, because it already has a large following and user base, quicker transactions, 2.5 minutes, and will be used, maybe while out at the local restaurant, or to pay your tab at a hotel you were staying..... Which you booked online with your Bitcoins.

An Ideal everyday use coin, would be which you will use at for example drivethrough, maybe like McDonalds or Burger king, or at a bar to buy drinks, and at the local supermarket, where every person in the queue behind you is hoping that you are 'not' a 'Bitcoiner', will have lightening fast confirmations, with transaction complete within a few seconds.

I see many coins trying to fit this description, and have been released lately, but the main selling point of a product, sadly, 'is the name'.
Who the hell wants to ask if they can pay in say, 'Feathercoin'.......'yes you can Sir, but do I get the whole chicken with that??'  Huh or so the list goes on. Nothing screams out. Maybe good ideas, but 'come on' get the name right first!

Bitbar
Is a very different sort of cryptocurrency. It is something that is intended to be worth more than a Bitcoin, many bitcoins in fact. It is something your 'old time' cryptocurrency enthusiast cant get their head around, seemingly as nothing can be worth more than a 'Bitcoin' in the cryptocurrency worlds eyes. Bitbar is hard to mine, only 3884 Bars have been mined to date since the beginning of May. The name itself screams what it is...It is a bar, just like a gold bar, but intended to be a bar of bitcoins!

I believe Bitbar to be a good investment for the future, even for the name alone, this thing is hard to mine, rare, and unique among all new alt currencies.
