Someone who's been pretty helpful to me in another forum has a signature for a site called FreeBitco.in

I'm wondering about sites like these - are they trustworthy? I imagine I won't get very much in terms of actual value, but hey some is better than none... right? Smiley

My main concern is whether this site is known to carry viruses, keyloggers, etc? My antivirus didn't show anything when I checked out the site but I hesitate to get too involved.

Thanks for any info Smiley

IMO. If something is "too good to be true" then it's probably not a good idea. "Free" and links are usually a red flag for me. Tread carefully.

I don't know where you have read this with the viruses...
I claim hourly my 500sat there and it is still working.
Some years before they made his money with advertising campaigns now it isn't nessecary anymor because of the Dice and the Lotery. Some months ago they had also ad a browserminig service ... this is not really profitable...
All in all it is one of the oldest and best Faucets/ gambling sites I have ever tested. It is also paying:D.

Yea, freebitco is the most famous faucet and I assure you it is not scam. Check the ann thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=319540.0  to see users feedback.
There is lot of scam faucets which let you solve captchas for weeks but when it comes to payout you get nothing. But not shis case. The owner has enough funds and has no reason to try any scam/keylogger or w/e.

Feel free to use my reflink (in signature). I'm giving 60% of my earnings back to my affiliates.

Its not a scam and it has an established history and confirmed payouts. Its browser miner is a user select option so you don't get bombarded with it like other unprofessional sites. Its one of the first faucet sites I came across in cryptospace and I've had no dramas with it.

Its also just made BTG available from the fork on your BTC balance they offer you the option to earn interest on your balance after you reach the 30k satoshi withdrawal limit. As well as that they have the lottery options etc and a reward points program. And they have the freedoge.co.in site also.

Of course it is not scam and you can earn some bitcoins every minutes but you should know how many bitcoins you will earn. I think for every 30 minutes you can earn 0,000000001 mBTC; m means that you should put some zero also Smiley Don't waste your time with these buddy

i've claimed when the price start with 900 satoshi per hour, and i got over than 3mBtc per week, then now i get nothing just dump rest of my coin to get profit every day(only small amount). about keylogger or viruses you can use on screen keyboard if you not trust that web, and also update your anti virus to make sure you're not being attacked by viruses.

That is where I started, by having a huge referral train on freebitco.in and sometimes claiming from their faucets. Highest I got is 0.001 BTC back in 2014. These sites contain no keyloggers or any other malware as they've been giving away bitcoins for years now in exchange of ad viewership. You don't need to worry about anything and everyone's gotta start somewhere, I guess.

Those websites are so called faucets. They earn money from showing you ads and give you small part in return. But don't imagine that you will get to much and that you will be rich by doing these. In my opinion there are better ways where you can start to earn bitcoin and where you can spend your time on. Even if you think you don't know to do anything by this point - I'd advise you to learn something that you can do from home such as programming, support, writer, designer  and many more.... You can learn this and other things mostly for free so you can start to earn fiat and transfer to btc or simply trade your skills for payments in bitcoin.

I have started with websites like these and I can tell you that they can waste your time, from my perspective ofc.

Yes it is trustworthy I read somewhere and they call it the king of all faucets. Newcomers to bitcoin should try joining freebitco just for the experience of earning their first coins. it also has a lottery which gives out a lot of prizes. it also has a Hi Lo game which multiplies the btc you can earn. And it also has an annual interest of 4.08% if your balance reaches 30000 satoshi if you let it stay there. it is reputable.

As others have mentioned, it's probably the most famous and trusted faucet site. It also allows people to gamble and even to mine in your browser ( https://mining.freebitco.in/mining.html ).

Though that's not very profitable. Getting others to join it through your referral link will probably make you more money, although even that probably won't be of any signifance to your life.

If you want to make some easy, but meaningful amounts of money, try joining Bounty Campaigns or simply Signature Campaigns. Those are far more profitable and are very easy to use too.
If that's nothing for you, you could try using Steemit. Faucets really don't give you a reasonable amount of money.

Never come across anyone in this community who claim to make money from free bitcoin website. The faucets are waste of time and resources.

I didn't made money, that's true. But I made some BTC

in past I shared also some feedback:

Still n1 faucet ! Wink keep up the good work

Fully agree it's "numero uno" since the beginning.

BTW: I have received 0.05 BTC reward for my hint about lottery fairness (few posts above) and I bet there will be better reward for providing functional principle how to make it 100% provably fair so don't hesitate to bring up your own idea about this topic.

Thank you wetsuit.

hope this gives you picture about the owner.

But true is you can't expect to make a living of it. If you do then prepare to be disappointed.

Thanks for your feedback - I really do like the site so far - made nothing thanks to the win-loss game  Grin but I'm approaching it as a fun little side activity and not an active earner anyway.

My only question: I tried clicking on the link that says you can use your browser to passively mine coins and my Malwarebytes immediately blocked it and flagged it as possibly malicious. Anyone else had this experience?

Good point, but I'm at my computer anyway for hours a day. Takes me almost  no time at all to switch tabs and do a free roll every once in a while Smiley I've learned my lesson from that hi-lo game anyway so I just do the roll - who knows, maybe I'll get a high number one of these times. Good enough for me in addition to doing that 'doing something more productive' thing you mentioned  Grin
