Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

RB, it is a deal @ 3.55 as long as you are ok with using John K as an escrow.  71 BTC is a big # afterall.  If you give me the ok, I'll PM John K. and setup the escrow.

The selling of rb1205's acisminer shares should base the ruler of "first come, first get".

rb1205 has said the price of shares is fixed at 3.5 BTC. So If you want to buy  more than @3.5 btc / shares. It is no use because you are late.

The trade of shares should base the fundament of honesty.

If there is any dispute , it should be solved by consultation. According to the dividend, rb1205 has other 50 shares.
If you want to buy more shares, u can pm rb1205.

Best wishes to all.

Is escrow more valuable than rb1205's reputation?

Escrow forsakes the need to bother researching someone's reputation.

But your bid was conditional.  The condition wasn't met, so your bid doesn't count, right?  I don't think conditional bids should even be a thing, bid or don't.

To recap:

Offers ready to buy:
  • mechs: 20 shares
  • fforforest: 5 shares

Offers waiting for friedcat to confirm my proof of ownership:
  • innovation: 5
  • reedlaw: 15

Since I've given proof of ownership and friedcat isn't answering my 48h+ message, i'm going to give precedence to ready to buy offers.

I'm sending out a PM to mechs. If he fails to pay within 02:00 of tomorrow 01/07 (server time) I'll send a PM to fforforest, or innovation/reedlaw if either friedcat confirms my shares or they accept my proof.

Actually, I PM'ed you saying I was ready to buy before mechs or fforforest posted here:

Hi,

As the price of ASICMINER shares has risen since your post and we still await confirmation from friedcat, I'm eager to purchase if you are still willing to honor the @3.5 price. I can see that you are indeed a real shareholder by verifying your signed message and looking at the blockchain history to see you've received dividend payments from the official ASICMINER address. So, I am willing to pay for the 15 shares immediately @3.5 without awaiting friedcat's confirmation.

Please let me know if this is acceptable or if you have changed your mind.

Thanks,
Reed

I didn't receive any response from you so I patiently waited as per your rules:

  • I'm not online 24/7, please don't get upset if I don't answer your PMs right away. My timezone is CET.

The rules don't make it clear whether PM's or replies in the thread get higher precedence.

I had other offers by PM that I let pass while waiting for confirmation on this deal. Judging from friedcat's post history it's pretty common practice for him to confirm ownership of shares. Only later after posting my original offer did I bother to verify rb1205's signed message and look at the blockchain to see that the dividend payments match up with the stated number of shares.

hi, mechs.

rb has more than 20 acisminer shares. He only sell 20 shares now. I will get 5 shares and reedlaw take 15 shares.

if u want buy rb1205's acisminer shares, u can pm him. He has another 50 shares.

John K. is respected by all of us . If there is a trouble with me, I also get consult from him. It is obvious that John K. will obey know the ruler of first come, fist get. He is not a money btc-drived man. His escrow help us a lot.

Confirming by friedcat is for the safe of shares transferring. It is my ruler to buy acisminer shares. I think Friedcat is a respected and honest man too.

Honest is utmost important thing. If there is no honest, bitcoin will be destroyed in the future.

Thanks to all.

Honestly, that is between you and RB.  I don't think it involves Friedcat or John K in anyway.  I offered him a bit more (3.55) which was accepted.

If that's the point I don't think that public messages should be given equal priority time wise, mainly because everyone can check a public message timestamp while a PM is, well, private. To me PMs are a way to setup private details, but since the selling thread was public I expect the offers to be public as well, or at least not to expect PMs to be treated like post replies.

furthermore, I already gave full verifiable proof of my ownership in the first post, so your initial request for direct verification by friedcat was somewhat redundant. I can't take your initial offer as an actual one.

After closing my deal with mechs, given the huge increase in price of AM shares, I'm going to close this thread and start a new one with an updated price.

if u close your shares to me and reedlaw, There is a serious unfairness.

rb1205, as a hero number, must obey the following ruler:

(1)first come, first get
(2)honesty

If rb1205 refuse the top two rulers, It means what he said is nonsense. I will keep watch on his id (rb1205), his shares address and dividend. And I will launch a post in Chinese board to discuss the fairness in auctions. his id will be reported.

When rb1205 launch his 20 acisminer shares auction , the price of acisminer shares is about 3.5 BTC. Price change will not be the reason to cancel this auction.

confirming shares by friedcat is  preconditions. rb1205 can not tell us the shares-confirming is the main reason to refuse me and reedlaw.
English is not my mother tongue. I will report and discuss this post with friedcat in Chinese.

I made a public offer and then used PM to setup a private detail--that is, that I would forego confirmation by friedcat and pay immediately. It would have been nice if you had made notice immediately that my offer was invalid so that I could pursue other purchasing channels.

In your list of made up rules you forget to add another:

(3) An auction can be retired by its seller.

The shares has been reserved by mechs the moment he placed his read-to-be-served offer. I waited 24 hours for his payment, then I released the shares and took them off the selling. As you wrote yourself I did not confirm any offer after mechs', so I'm not really obliged to do anything.

Since when is a seller not able to cancel his own auction? Moreover, this is not even an auction, it's just an offer to sell something at a fixed price. I'd like you to explain me how I'm not entitled to cancel my own offer.

No, what you did was stating that, should friedcat confirm my shares, you would have bought them. Friedcat didn't show up, so your offer never actually went thru. I never made any commitments to you.

I know that you guys would be happy to buy something at less than 60% of its current value, but let me put this plain and simple:

This auction is closed. The shares have been retired from selling.

ok

I will take 5 shares @3.5 BTC.
If your shares has been confirmed by friedcat, I will pay as soon as possible.

Hi, I just sent a PM to friedcat asking him for the confirm.

======================
acisminer shares confirming by friedcat is obeyed by you and I.

everyone has sharp eyes.

I am so shame to see What u as a hero number have said.

What u said is nonsense?

When u launch this trade , ie, selling your shares at the fixed price of 3.5btc as a share, the price of share is about 3.5 btc.

I am the first one who is willing to buy your shares. And you are willing to sell your shares to me . plz see #7.

Your bid was CONDITIONAL, which I think is bogus.  The condition was NOT SATISFIED.  So, to me, your bid does NOT COUNT.
