We were led to believe that Ashish was only a subcontractor working on email privacy programs, surmising that he may have had a hand in Grabbe's DMT. Now, it's a safe conclusion that he was well-versed in all the happenings at Laissez Faire City upon paying his $6,000 USD founder fee.

Timeline:

1997: Hashcash is a proof-of-work system designed to limit email spam and denial-of-service attacks. It is also used as the proof-of-work protocol in Bitcoin. Hashcash was proposed in March 1997 by Adam Back.

1998: Ashish Gulhati is a founder of Laissez Faire City.

1999: In November 1999, a series of articles in the Laissez Faire City Times presented the Digital Monetary Trust project, which was a proposed financial trust providing private, anonymous accounts for individuals and entities within the DMT system, in order to securely store anonymous capital or to make anonymous monetary transactions.
