Edimax Wireless Card cycles when CGMiner is started

THIS http://www.edimax.com/en/produce_detail.php?pd_id=347&pl1_id=1 wireless nano usb is giving me a headache. Every time I start CGMiner the wireless card cycles(disconnects and reconnects). This automatically drops connection from the pool i'm on and doesn't start it back up.

Also, Comcast keeps emailing me thinking my miner is a 'bot' due to the constant small bits of data traveling throughout the night and day.

This wireless card has done this before, but I was able to make it stop by unplugging it and plugging it back in. It stopped the first time when I had to do a hard reset and the 'windows was not properly shut down' screen pops up. I just start windows normally.

Ideas? Help?

Anyone? I'm starting to suspect a virus screwing with my rig. Recommendations on best AntiVirus? I have my top 5 choices but I'd like to see what you all prefer.

I had a similar wireless USB dongle from Netgear. I stopped using it after a week. It caused nothing but problems while mining. I switched to a wired network connection and the issues went away. I was getting disconnects from pools, I was unable to keep a consistent VNC connection, etc. I'm not sure if maybe the overhead of these things causes constrained resources when mining or what, but switching to ethernet was like night & day.

And when card reconnect back and you restart CGMiner, you have connection to pool?

I have one of these too. Its done the same thing to me before as well. The only thing I could come up with thats worked so far was moving it closer to the router so I'm guessing its something to do with it not having an antenna like some adapters. I could be wrong though.

Biggest issue I've found with heavy/intensive home wifi usage is other routers transmitting on the same channel of yours, many default to 11 nowadays and the interference plays havoc with speed and latency - my connection went from 1mbps to 15mbps on speedtest just by changing down to channel 5, there were 10 other routers broadcasting on channel 11 in range tho!

I've got an Edimax little USB wifi device, not that one, but a similar one. Looks like yours uses a 8188CUS chipset, so how about downloading the drivers straight from Realtek?

And ya, Comcast sends us letters every once in a while saying we're infected with a bot or something, but I use MSE and MWB on all my computers, and haven't had any issues. I would also recommend Avast or Avira. Most of the time when we get a computer with a virus at work, it's cuz something like Java is ridiculously old and outdated. Do yourself a favor and go to Ninite, and select all the programs you'd like to use. Download and run, but keep the file, as it's great for running once a week (or month, if you're lazy) and keeping everything up to date. If nothing else, use it for an easier Java updater. Then go into Control Panel, and Uninstall Java 6 (You can leave Java 7). Most people don't know this, but it makes a HUGE difference.
