As we all know few countries are banning cryptocurrencies. But are the people aware of cryptocurrencies' existence before it gets banned / legalized in their country?

for a digital currency that is still banned any country, I think only a few percent who know the existence of cryptocurrencies. cryptocurrency is still a lot of trouble to fix so that a country recognizes it.

As we all know some countries are banning cryptocurrencies. But are the people aware of its existence?

It is true that BTC is illegal in some countries, but I think it was expected when we know that different people think differently and different countries have different opinions in terms of some things, and that including BTC.But when we look at the countries who ban/declared BTC as illegal we may see they come from all continents and there is poor and well-established countries.I do not know it is true, but one country which banned BTC is Iceland, and there is a list of few more: Bangladesh,Taiwan,Kyrgyzstan,Bolivia,Ecuador,Vietnam and recently Morocco.

Regarding your second question, are you asking people are aware of cryptocurrency or that their countries make them illegal?

I think that the knowledge of the existence of BTC and any other cryptocoin is still relatively small if we consider the whole world, but it is certain that every day it increases more and more.

For me legalization awareness is easy if you have the government acceptance within you because mostly these days people won't entertain companies or businesses that are illegal and not approved by their government because they want to avoid government intervals and pusnishments among them. So for the first foremost the bitcoin should go through first is to pass the legal process.

Not all countries are legalizing it or making any relevant laws. There are a very few countries who have legalized it and majority of the countries are not sure what to do with it. Either they don't bother or they are too serious about the negative impact of bitcoin. I am sure the majority of the governments are not taking bitcoin positively. Not all countries are progressive like Japan.

However, I believe legalizing bitcoin will help the mankind as a whole. A lot of new business will open up. A lot of new job opportunities will be created. More over, a lot of money will be infused in the economy which will increase the purchasing power of its citizens. It will have a very positive impact on any economy if a country legalize bitcoin. But they are facing a lot of pressure from the Banks and main stream financial institutions who wants to ban bitcoin. But the legal status is still unclear in majority countries.

Sorry for my misleading question. Edited it. Yes, the increase of awareness of people in bitcoin is quite noticeable for this year. I hope this continues for the years to come.

You're making it sounds like there's a massive btc banning occuring around the world, which is not like that. 'Some countrie's are barely a few southeast asian states where the governments are too corrupt so they want to keep absolute control over its citizens and the financial system.

I think public awareness is more important right now, because, how can you legalize a cryptocurrency that the public doesn't even know or understand? even though Bitcoin is having a lot of exposure from the media over the recent months, there's still unawareness in the general public regarding bitcoin and many questions are left unanswered (what is it?, what does it do?, how does it work?, how can i use it?, etc).

We can't by generalizing the "people" for being aware of cryptocurrencies. The world is wide and not all can take to have knowledge and idea that cryptocurrencies are existing.

Who's banning crypto? All countries are implementing it and making relevant laws.
https://news.bitcoin.com/five-countries-where-bitcoin-is-illegal/

Both are needed for bitcoin, legalization and as well as public awareness. Legalizing bitcoin will give the citizens to have the guarantee that they will not violate or do such criminal act by just using bitcoin as news out there are very misleading and tells this way. Public awareness is good for countries that doesn't have a stand with bitcoin.

nobody is banning bitcoin these days, in fact they are all adopting it and even talk about how legalizing bitcoin is going to be a good thing for them. you know as in tax revenue, Cool

in any case, either one of these will bring the other.
if you legalize bitcoin, it will bring public awareness
public awareness can also bring legalization.

but making it illegal won't prevent the public awareness though. bitcoin is decentralized and nobody can really ban it for good. and they can never prevent people from finding out about bitcoin and wanting to use the peer to peer network!

First and foremost, how can you legalize something that you don't know or something that you're unaware of? In order for everyone to accept what is bitcoin and what are cryptocurrencies, they have to know it first, the what, the why's and the how's. Once that is done, then the government and those who have the authority can decide whether cryptocurrency should be legalized or what, after they have weighed and taken both sides into account.

I think banning bitcoin will have a negative impact on a specific country simply because I believe that bitcoin is our future. Actually a lot of countries are now adopting bitcoin and people should be more thankful because of this. The main concern here is, still not all people trust or know bitcoin so for me public awareness is important.

legalization or public awareness, I chose community awareness because bitcoin growth is so fast without government help that bitcoin does not require legalization to flourish but it is with this community consciousness that has made bitcoin development to this day. Bitcoin also does not require the government to regulate bitcoin because of the identity or characteristics of bitcoin that keeps its users secret, freedom of transactions and freedom in managing the economy freely without government intervention.

A lot of countries are against it, although I must say most are 3rd world one stuck in the stone age.
Beside that, nobody is really "implementing" it they are just regulating bitcoin payments.

Bitcoin also does not require the government to regulate bitcoin because of the identity or characteristics of bitcoin that keeps its users secret, freedom of transactions and freedom in managing the economy freely without government intervention.

Bitcoin needs the government not to act against it.
Nobody gives a damn if Morocco bans bitcoin payments but can you think what would happen if the guys in the US would wake up same day and decide the same?

I think banning bitcoin will have a negative impact on a specific country simply because I believe that bitcoin is our future.
If that country is US, Germany or UK it will hurt far more BTC than that country economically.

Public awareness has to come first. Increased public awareness will lead to more people investing in bitcoin, forcing governments' hand to legalize cryptocurrencies, because people will start to take their money off the grid. If people are not aware of bitcoin to the extent that they start investing in it, governments will feel no need to legalize it, since bitcoin's impact on the economy as a whole will be negligible.

Even helping the country to reduce unemployment, I do not know it might take 4 more years The government will accept Bitcoin as a legitimate currency to trade.

As we all know few countries are banning cryptocurrencies. But are the people aware of cryptocurrencies' existence before it gets banned / legalized in their country?

If it is getting banned, then I think there is already a considerable number of bitcoin or crypto users in that country for the government to notice it and act on it.

As for the poll, I think we should consider awareness first. We should make more people aware of bitcoin, especially the positive side of it. Most people who are not really into crypto only get negative side of bitcoin. But we should show them that there is more to bitcoin and crypto than just a currency used in underground markets and scams. This step will also have a positive effect if ever the government decides to legalize or regulate bitcoin.

A lot of countries banned crypto and bitcoin. They are afraid that they lose the taxes that every person in that particular country should donate. Legalization and public awareness is both important. But first they should be aware what bitcoin is, how helpful bitcoin is and what are the importance of bitcoin. After that if people agreed with that public informing/awareness then the government will legalize BTC. Not all countries implementing it because the people who lives there didn't agree or maybe it's just their government doesn't want it to enter their country because it might be a cause of crimes.

Well cryptocurrency is not consider illegal in my country so legalization is not necessary (yet) but not too many of my countrymen have cryptocurrency knowledge so I think there should be awareness program needed.

Many countries ban bitcoin and anything about it. For example, China, but China still one of the most miners in world. The answer is public awareness because it will still under control of government also make people aware it. People always curious something is banned so to let they is better than hide it.

I do believe that people are already aware of the existence of the cyrpto currency and using it before the government make a move to banned or legalized crypto currency in their country. I think the main reason of he government why they are making a move to banned or legalize crypto currency is to protect their citizen against to any possible form of crimes concerning in using crypto currencies as a medium.

Legalization will be the key to people's awareness. Once that bitcoin is legal in a specific country, the the government acknowledges it and a country would not legalize such technology without a purpose of developing something in the future.
Or vise versa. When people are aware if bitcoin, may be this could be the key for the government to legalize it. If a government listens to the citizens when proving the worth of bitcoin then there is no doubt that bitcoin will be ignored.

Public awareness. Legality is actually not that bad right now there is only a few countries which have made it illegal for selfish reasons rather than practicality.  Public awareness is so much better because of the price right now but that will change it if ever drops.

As I can see these are the current nations banning or in the process of banning Bitcoin. There may be others as well.

Banning Bitcoin:

Zimbabwe - https://cointelegraph.com/news/zimbabwean-central-bank-considers-bitcoin-illegal
Morocco - https://cointelegraph.com/news/morosco-outlaws-cryptocurrencies
Nigeria
Columbia
Taiwan
Vietnam
Ecuador
Bangladesh
Bolivia
Thailand
Venezuela

Pretty interesting to see that most of these coiuntries have a history of capital flight in connection with currency debasement (inflation). Officials are therefore quick to initiate legislation before mass public awareness occurs.

each countries that banned bitcoin has their own specific reasons why did they do so. once it will be banned it will be on their local news, so public will be aware by that, come to think about it. when it comes to legalization, they cannot do it easily as possible, there are tons of studies need to do before implementing the law, and it needs to be looked carefully, there are also negative feed backs they often heard about using cryptocurrency. on the other hand, maybe they are just using the news to take advantage, that's what comes into my mind.

I have to imagine that quite a significant number is aware of them that the country in question is driven to craft regulations for it. Why bother if none of your citizens use it, or are even aware that it exists?

Either way, both scenarios increase public awareness. Legalization is better, obviously, because people can actually apply their newfound awareness, while banning can only really spur curiosity but stunt growth. This is why regulation could be good in the long run, even if the government is able to apply certain rules to it. More people are introduced, and there's no uncertainty looming over them in using it.

no we don't know that.
what we know is that some countries banned bitcoin in the very first years. and some have been talking about it with contradictory stances against and for bitcoin.

Quote
But are the people aware of cryptocurrencies' existence before it gets banned / legalized in their country?

the source of knowing about bitcoin is not the "ban/legalize" news. people usually find out about bitcoin when someone else tells them about it like a friend sharing a link via email or face to face. or hear about it in the news when they talk about it.

There is a FOMO brewing...

Both terms pay equal importance in the coming days. Bitcoin has already created an powerful impact on users globally after the recent hike in which Bitcoin price is nearly doubled in the last couple of months. Further for public awareness, firstly Bitcoin should be legalized so that there is no fear among people about loosing their investment. Then if Bitcoin is legalized then media will pay a key role in creating mass awareness among public about Bitcoin, it could be further helped if great innovators come up and discuss the benefits of Bitcoin. But on the whole legalization is the basic need before anything else.

But it needs some time to be spend!

both are necessary and both have their own importance, legalization is importance so that people can easily use bitcoin and public awareness is also necessary as without have good awareness people may not take any interest in bitcoin or any other altcoin. so i think both have their own importance.

Raising the public awareness about crytocurrency is a great idea. In this project it will raise the popularity of bitcoin in the world; aside from that, it can help the people to be get inform what is bitcoin all about. If this thing happen, it can open lots of doors for the management of bitcoin which can help the other country to convince them to welcome the electronic currency in their country and establish a well develop society.

Legalizing bitcoin would generate public awareness and confidence in cryptocurrency. That would put to rest most issues being raised by skeptics. The product would then sell itself.

Public awareness. Legality is actually not that bad right now there is only a few countries which have made it illegal for selfish reasons rather than practicality.  Public awareness is so much better because of the price right now but that will change it if ever drops.
I am also strongly in favor of legalization of bitcoin throughout world because there is no harm in doing so rather this action is going to help public in living a better lives. Government should spread awareness about this currency instead of banning it or declaring it harmful for the economy. Indeed as you said, such governments are so mean that they are not letting their public enjoy the perks of this latest invention.

As we all know few countries are banning cryptocurrencies. But are the people aware of cryptocurrencies' existence before it gets banned / legalized in their country?
I think it is much better for cryptocurrencies to be legalized before people be awared about it. Because even if it people gets awared about it, but it is not still legalized the cryptocurrencies will be still banned, if the government didn't  still accepted it.

Well it depends on what country, some country will only legalized it for them to put some tax on it, some may just finding ways to do corruption, there's a need to a proper implementation, knowing there are lot of corrupt official who didn't perform well , i hope they will not do any moves on crypto.

I think it's good to make public awareness rather than regulating as a legalized asset. Because everywhere loop holes will be available and now the legalized usage will help with the corrupt people make it more easier for accessing. Even some countries have made plans for implementing of taxes, but that hasn't been effective on reality.

Who's banning crypto? All countries are implementing it and making relevant laws.

I believe that when government ban bitcoin they tend not to fully inform the public about bitcoin to prevent them from having curious about it. But when it comes to informing people about bitcoin it is better that the public is aware about the existence of cryptocurrency and how it will change the monetary world.

Well if a government tries to ban cryptocurrencies, it means that cryptocurrencies are popular already and people are investing in it, because if it wasn't a threat they wouldn't try to ban it. In order to prevent this from happening, increasing public awareness is key, so that people recognize bitcoin as a legitimate investment method and they can speak up if the government tries to ban it.

if in my country the actual prohibition of cryptocurrency is if it is used for exchange tools and used as a means of payment. because the law in my country only allows local currency as a means of payment. but if cryptocurrency is used as a means of payment or used for the sale and purchase of goods, it would be illegal and violate state laws. because in my country maybe only about 3% who know and understand about crypto, there are still many people who lay about cryptocurrency and it takes a long time to explain many people. but it is possible that someday the people in my country will learn to study and enter the crypto world, but that may take a long time.

Since the begining countries and some companies tryed to stop bitcoin, and it were worthing 100-400 dollars, till the first record that reached 1000 dollars, wich made a lot people to consider those an investment, but at those stage it were already impossible to stop bitcoin and crypto interest. Countries wich will ban or try it are supporting more the ilegal transactions, soo a markeplace will be open for those with a premium value above the market. I believe bitcoin with recent results has achieved a bigger group, wich are the whales and big investors, that are joining a bit late into the party, but next years will be interessant to follow bitcoin awareness over the world.

World have invented amazing technology named "Blockchain", which can be implement and use for day to day. Bitcoin is just a example of Blockchain technology. Still many things are going to happen. So government must have to take appropriate action implementing Bitcoin as a source of income with taxation by legalizing them. If it is not done at right time, it may cause big trouble for governments in future.

Because people elects governments, an if government fails to fulfill people demand then governments will be collapse.

It is about public awareness and legalization, but the larger most significant premise that needs to be focused on is acceptance of bitcoins as a genuine currency/means of monetary trade.

Well, for me, public awareness should comes first. Some countries are banning bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies because they see it as a threat or as somewhat related to scam. However, they view this as such because they don't have any idea what bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are. They don't know its capabilities and potential, or even what it is all about. Men, we often view things that are unknown to us, as a threat. That's why I think being aware of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies will open the minds and the eyes of these law-making individuals who are prone to banning bitcoin.

Well,I want to say about public awareness. It is very needed in this respect. There are maximum people is living in the world who don't know about Bitcoin and it's details. To solve any problem, public awareness is very important. Without public awareness, the problem will not be solved. So,public awareness is needed in all situation.

Legalization is more important that public awareness. Bitcoin get enough public awareness, what bitcoin really need is countries legalization, so there will no more afraidness for bitcoin users to use their bitcoin. Thrust me bitcoin community is big enough now, even its more than enough to make the price keep increase.

Sepertinya sudah waktunya, kalau menurut saya lebih baik lump sum sekarang. 30/01/2024.

Of course, legalization is more important, because as soon as it is legalized, everyone will report it and thus public awareness will come

Some are aware of it and those who are not aware and just later on knew it that crypto was banned on their country will do nothing as if they are not interested with it. Bitcoin needs to be legalized and also need to raise public awareness. Most of the central banks will warn their citizens about the risk that new investors will come in but that's enough for them since they are just trying to protect their people.

Yes these  are very important for bitcoin and every single user must play its role to do awareness of bitcoin to the people such as we can share bitcoin on social media also we can invite some of our friends to join bitcoin and if bitcoin start to be legal in every country so I’m sure in a night million of people will join bitcoin and same investors and daily traders will be also increased and there is a possibility that bitcoin will replace dollar soon.
