Hello everyone,
I just learned about this the other day and think that this is cool.  I'm just doing this for fun as I find it fascinating. I had a question about my specs.  I started mining with Slush's pool and am using GUIMiner.  I recently built my own gaming computer with the following specs http://pcpartpicker.com/p/HyQJ.

The device being used is the intel i5-3570 as opposed to [0-0] Pitcairn. I don't know what that is or what it does

I have checked all 3 boxes for CPU affinity but only have about 6.6 Mhash/s.  I feel that it should be faster but don't know how to do so.  I also do not know what the box extra flags does.

Can anyone give me any pointers? Thanks!

Hello NightHawk45,

What's going on here is that your are CPU mining on GUI miner as apposed to GPU mining. Now when you clicked on the device tab in GUI miner two things poped up, one being intel i5-3570 your CPU, and the other being [0-0] Pitcairn which is your Radeon HD 7870. What you want to do is change your device to [0-0] Pitcairn.

Once you do this you should be getting around 400 MH/s.

Also if your card isn't getting to hot your can increase your MH/s by adding in the Extra Flags text box the settings "-v -w 128".

I hope this helps you out in your quest for greater hashing power.

Thanks for the quick reply, Tanderso418!
I changed that and am currently running 363.  My box is running pretty cool after 5 hours on this new setting so I am going to try those extra flags and see what happens.

typing in "-v -w 128" doesn't seem to help at all.  If any thing it slows my mhash/s by around 5-10 mhash/s.  What other flags could I use?

bump.  I'm still interested in making it run faster.  I think I can use the flags to do something, but I am not sure.

I mine with cgminer on slush pool. 6870 xfire.

My bat file

color 02
cgminer -o http://stratum.bitcoin.cz:3333 -u kaihv87.jobb2 -p 5572994 --shaders 1120 --thread-concurrency 5600 --gpu-engine 900 --gpu-memclock 300 --intensity 8 --worksize 128 --temp-cutoff 95 -g 1

this is just a example. i know i can press a few extra mhash with increasing gpu engine and intensity a bit . but the temperature from that isnt worth is as this is not a dedicated miner.

If u donwload the latest cgminer version you can easely change ur mining setting from the cgminer itself.
