I was just thinking about it, BitcoinTalk wallet has a massive current value of $ 2,648,769.75.  https://blockchain.info/address/17RTTUAiiPqUTKtEggJPec8RxLMi2n9EZ9
So that's makes me wondering, is it still needed?

Thanks!

If they don't have another source of income those money will run out at some point. Even if Bitcoin will keep growing. Slowly their money will be spent.

The donations forum is really needed because of this is the domain payouts and of course the staffs who are served by bitcointalk. So donation is an important thing. Especially in the maintenance of good working forum for our moderators, staff to be safe from hackers

From where did you get that forum still needs for donations. Forum staff many times said that forum gets enough income by selling ad slots. And these huge amounts of donations came some years ago, when btc price was many times smaller.
But I'm not sure, why new forum software still not released. I can't believe it's due to lack of money. I remember there was plans to release it on 2015 but everything stopped and there is not much news about it.

Ignore all the sig spammers above posting shit about something they know absolutely nothing about. Staff members are paid out of forum ad revenue and theymos has said publicly several times that the forum doesn't really need any more money, so there's your answer.

However, I will gladly accept any and all donations (address in profile  Tongue).

That's not all. Most of the forum coins are held by the treasurers. Treasurers are a group of people who hold the forums Bitcoin. There used to be a lot of treasurers, but right now there's only two: theymos and Ognasty, each holding 750 and 500 BTC respectively. So the forum currently holds roughly 1500BTC, equal to $15 million.

With that amount of BTC plus regular forums ads revenue (which is also huge), do you think the forum needs more donation? Tongue

No they don't. theymos auctions off ad spots(below the first post of every thread) for a fixed amount and it seems to be more than enough to maintain the site and give monthly "fees" to mods for their work
