My recommendation would be to help them learn about Bitcoin and cash the coin out with them / redeem extras.  Since a family member originally built it I'd expect them to trust you to help with the redemption process.

Sounds great, in general I wouldn't recommend selling a loaded DIY coin although in my eyes you're a trusted trader and if I was looking for one of these without the headache of assembly I'd send an offer over.

Either way they should be quite happy with the return and I'm looking to gift some more BTC this Christmas as well.
