On the MtGox you can deposit euro but it doesn't say what happens. Does it get converted to USD at receival? What are the exchange rates? Fees?

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

I think they'll convert it according to http://www.ecb.int/stats/exchange/eurofxref/html/index.en.html - at least that is what happens on payouts.

Yes, EUR is converted to USD.

Scroll down a bit to "Bank Transfer" on this site:

yeah, it will be converted to USD at a very decent rate. Do NOT send USD directly to their european bank account, they WILL charge you with a much higher fee if you do. It's a euro bank account, so the bank automatically converts everything else to it.
The deposit worked very well for me (48-72 hours).
