I hope this is the right category.

Because of my job, I got some electricity for free (enough for antS9), so I just ordered an antminer S9. It will be shipped on jan, but I had no better options than bitmain. Classified ads were 100% scam on my country.

I assume bitcoin mining difficulty will increase, we are talking about 2 months, however I find mining extremely profitable, am I missing something?

I used this website to calculate the profits: https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/btc?HashingPower=14&HashingUnit=TH%2Fs&PowerConsumption=0&CostPerkWh=0

This antminer would generate 0.07840525 btc/month according to calculations, is this correct? I find it insane. Next halving will be in 2020, right?

A friend of mine told me that bitcoin developers "will change" bitcoin in order to shutdown asic mining. Is this correct?

Happy mining Smiley

Yes at current prices an Antminer S9 makes over $700/mo not counting electricity.

Your friend is very wrong about bitcoin developers changing anything relating to its algorithm. Bitcoin will be asic mined long into the future.

Stop buying industrial miners, running them at home, and then complaining about the noise.

You have free electricity so you should expect to be profitable. But bitcoin price fluctuating, you can't calculate the exact income. Bitcoin itself can't be changed that way, there are all kinds of projects trying to fork or do different altcoin that is asic-resistant but you are safe for now on.

Never heard that bitcoin developers will change bitcoin to shutdown asic.. thats impossible to happen and the number 1 could be affected is the network all transaction can be stuck or slow..
And buying antminer could be profitable with the current difficulty and price but anytime difficulty and price could increase or decrease but you are in good decision..
