StatDude, I have been playing online poker on a regular basis for +3years , earning a modest winning income for the last 2 years.
Recently I have been thinking about shifting my online gambling (investment as you may call) focus on sports betting for
several personal reasons. But from what you mentioned above in earlier posts it seems one won't have a chance to make
it big in a reasonable time (one to three years) unless he starts with a big bankroll as well. Did I get you correct?
In online poker while only %1 of players could become a winner and only few make it big but theoretically a talented player always have the chance to
start from scratch and make it big.

Bybit,

Poker is great but very time consuming. Once you've built a working foundation in sports, it runs itself. of course, that's incredibly difficult..

However, it is possible. Bankroll wise, I think it's realistic to return about 25-35% per season if you're good. So, a 100% return per year is possible without too much risk, if you're solid. However, depending on what you bet, you will face limits pretty quickly. I'm capped at around a $25-30k bankroll with my current betting options available for tennis, since I can only get down a few hundred per match, so I'll have to expand to other markets or other sports.

I'd give it a year with a small bankroll, get familiar with the sports you like, then ramp up.

Thank you for the hints. Yes the main reason for me also to think about such a shift is that poker is time consuming and sticky+ not as scalable as sports betting+ develops a kind of antipathy and hatred towards other players when playing long sessions..
I am a math graduate, most of my time I spend working on some papers, free thinking and searching for innovation.. poker just does not match this mental process to go on smoothly.
Maybe I should try to make a reasonable bankroll through poker and then turn my attention to sports betting.. and meanwhile, until then study and practice SB with a small bankroll to learn. What do you think?
Also could you show me some sources for grasping the way of betting on tennis? I was thinking about soccer first. (no idea about basketball at all)

Yes... had a rough go on NBA and start to MLB. NBA especially is very difficult to beat from a straightfoward analysis - it's highly situational and motivational. I have work to go on those but am confident I will hit 55% when my new model is ready that accounts for this.

Sticking to tennis right now.

MLB is profitable, tennis is too but harder to cap, imo NBA is not. There are very few people that can make anything off of NBA and the reward is honestly not enough from what I've seen (ROI of like 2-3%). The variance in NBA is the highest imo thus making it the hardest to cap. Probably wrong here bout the variance but summary, I avoid NBA all together.

Gotta get this going again. And update my old plays.

Looking strong on a 4 team round robin I didn't post and some earlier players (all on tennisinsight though  Smiley).

New:

I feel pretty strongly about this play!

I see no reason Basic should hang here. Kukush has actually won 18 in a row as a 2-1 favorite or better, with impressive form. Some simple analysis places him as at least a 1.2 favorite here.

Kukushkin, Mikhail - Basic, Mirza

Kukushkin, Mikhail 1.5 u for -400

I apologize for not posting, as I've been too busy to focus as much on my bets.

I'll be updating the thread with bets I feel are particularly strong and should be +ROI.

The first would be Jets +3.5 (I got +4) this weekend.

The angle has to do with an away revenge loss for certain teams that has done particularly well.

I'll be playing it at:

Always nice to see another capper on the forum that knows about bankroll management and keeps a record of units won and lost. How much BTC/$ is 1 unit for you?

Good luck with your plays, might tail some if I like them.

Thanks Light!

I've done pretty well over the years - especially at MLB/Tennis.

Will be starting to post plays here:

http://www.pickmonitor.com/z01oa

Had a pretty solid NFL season but I don't do a ton of plays - I need some development help for my situational model.

Will be rolling out a lot more plays in 2014.

As I don't have a ton of BTC right now as it's tied up in some investments (was taking a little break from serious betting), but I usually bet at least $100 equivalent per but, usually $200+.

Play for tonight:

Denver Nuggets

Team historically perform poorly on the 2nd night of a back to back playing in Denver.

I'll be playing both spread and ML.
